Weekend Plans?

It's a beautiful weekend here.  How's the weather where you are?  What are your plans for the weekend?

I'm finishing my dog-/house-sitting assignment for my parents today and tomorrow morning, so I will spend the day at their house and walk the dog later tonight.  DH is at a Scottish Games Festival today with some of his family and planning to do some nightfishing tonight with his cousin (he's enjoying the "bachelor life").

Tomorrow, we are planning to go see 22 Jump Street (the matinee, of course, since it's cheaper).  Then, I will probably do some laundry and run the vacuum to prepare for the week ahead.  I'm on vacation for the month of July, so I have lots of plans for work on my dissertation, beginning this week.

Re: Weekend Plans?

  • @kkaple, what is your dissertation on?  That's exciting!  I love dog and house sitting.  I always feel like I'm on vacation when I'm not home and can't do chores.

I finally have a day off from work/hobbies/side jobs for the first time in a few weeks.  Hooray!  I really should start packing, or at least organizing, though we STILL don't have an official closing date which is a big source of stress.  I may just relax though-I really think I need it.  I also brought my work computer home to get a little bit ahead on a big grant proposal I have due in about a month.
  • @Xstatic3333 It's much less exciting than it sounds--high-effective principals' self-reported perceptions of pedagogical leadership behavior.  It's been a long and arduous process, so I'm glad to finally have the time and energy to make it a priority and get some progress made this month.  The exciting part will be wearing that hood and having those letters after my name!
    ;)
  • We are having great warm weather as well so we will bike ride, mini golf, gym, and some cleaning
  • We are looking rainy on and off- which isn't the best, but we need the continued rain to hopefully get us totally and completely out of this drought so it's a good thing.

Today we are going house hunting, and I'm completely excited about it, but also nervous. We list our house on the 7th, and houses in our neighborhood have sold in 8 days so if we don't have an idea of where we can move we may be screwed! I'm hoping looking today will help me de-stress about the situation because we will find something that we like.

  • played a wedding ceremony and cocktail hour last night.  Packing and catching up on stuff today because we leave tomorrow morning for Sanibel, FL.  Even though I have been preparing for going on vacation this week, I'm still feeling stressed because it seems there is still so much to do.

Well I just started packing to move.  We got everything settled with the inspection, so it's full steam ahead!

As I'm packing I'm making an inventory of stuff we own, and I'm taking photos for insurance purposes.   My weather-guru friends tell me that where we live actually has the second highest frequency of tornadoes in the world, outside of tornado alley.  While I'm packing it seems like the time to finally do the inventory - but man is it slow going.

Still... I got the china cabinet taken care of today.  I can't believe how much crap I managed to fit in there.  Then tomorrow is holiday stuff and the rest of our serving pieces that currently live in the guest room closet.  One step at a time, and hopefully by August I'll have most of the inventory completed.

Other than that, no real plans.  We did some shopping today which I enjoyed... but I'm afraid of what I'll have to report on Monday!

  • My mom and I are spending two weeks in Hawaii in July so I spent the morning booking transportation for each of the islands we're visiting.  Fortunately, that was on her credit card. :) She's taking care of the excursions, food and transportation while we're there. My responsibilities for the trip were the flights (free using miles!) and hotel (half free using points, the rest I booked through Jettsetter for over half-off plus free breakfast).  This afternoon we ran some errands and then grabbed brunch, and tonight I'm going to finish up a work project due by the EOB on Monday.  Tomorrow, drinks with a former co-worker, and getting ready for the work week and a three-day trip to Orlando for the long weekend!

  • Weather is beautiful here.  Sunny and 80s.  We went on a hike this morning.  Got some sun tan and exercise =)    After the hike, came home to shower and change, and went out to BJ's to get some groceries for the week.

We had dinner at home, and now I feel like I will fall asleep sitting here.  But, I am waiting for 'Girl Meets World,' missed it yesterday.

Tomorrow, a co-worker is having a get together at her house.  Not sure yet if we will go.  I want a lazy Sunday.  This month has been busy.  Every weekend we had something going on.

P.S.  For dinner I made  http://www.skinnytaste.com/2012/02/cajun-chicken-pasta-on-lighter-side.html , and it was awesome!  Highly recommend it!

  • Not much here.  We lead a lame life.  Cleaning, grocery shopping, hanging out.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Went to the GA Aquarium today :) ILs paid which is always nice. DH is doing a triathlon tomorrow morning.
  • @HoneyBee973 I love a lazy weekend as often as I can get them (which is rare), so I know where you're coming from.  We just need the time to recharge our batteries.  I've made that recipe, too--delicious!

GA Aquarium looks amazing! Sometimes I secretly hope for overnight flight delays in ATL so I can check it out...
  • Did my company's golf outing today which was really hot.  We went from the mid 70's for the past little while to 90 today.  It was really rough.

Came home and started grilling for having guests over tonight.

Tomorrow we may take my son to the pool so he can swim.  He really loves the water.

ooooh, I"m jealous!  Have you been there before?  When we went we only stayed on Oahu and Kaua'i.  Kaua'i was by far my favorite trip of my life so far.

I'm finally relaxing at 10pm. LOL.  I had to drop off our dog at my inlaws and they had dinner for me and DD.  DH is working a wedding and won't be home for another hour.  I have  a list of things for us not to forget since I'm not a morning person.  I also felt the need to vacuum and pick up toys and do dishes.  I like coming home to a clean house after vacation.  I can now relax for 10 days :)

Thanks!!  I have never been, nor has my  mom.  We are visiting Oahu and Maui.  Any suggestions in Oahu?  We're staying two nights on Waikiki and two nights in Kapolei.  So far most of the excursions we have booked are in Maui.

obviously visit pearl harbor.  that was really cool!  There is also some high end shopping.  It's very touristy.  We didn't get up to the north shore because we only stayed there 3 days, but I heard the waves are crazy high on that end and you can watch people surf them.  I enjoyed Kaua'i much more, it was more laid back.  But really you can't go wrong with any hawaiian island.
