S/o: What to say about br shower recipe cards?

I want to make a matching business card to include in the invite envelope asking guests to share their favorite recipe for a meal, dessert, snack, etc.  How should I word it, so lost?

Ooo, and I also found a cheesy idea too..what do you think of pre-sending the recipe cards so guest can fill out at home (and hopefully bring to shower) and then when they get to the shower having a second recipe card and asking guests to fill out "the recipe for a successful marriage?" Cute? Or no?

Re: S/o: What to say about br shower recipe cards?

  • I think sending them out before (like, with the invites) is the way to go!!!

I don't have any suggestins on wording, sorry.

I will definitely send the food-recipe cards in advance.  Do you think I should to the recipe for a good marriage cards also?  And send them in advance to?  Or have those to fill out at party?

  • I think the "recipe for a happy marriage" is a cute idea... we did something similar at the wedding:

For the business cards to include in the invite, how about:

Please share your favorite recipe with the happy couple on the enclosed recipe card. Bring the completed card with you to the shower or mail back to address if you are unable to attend.

I think the advice cards should be filled out at the party.

  • Oh yeah, sorry.  I would def do the "recipe for a good marriage" cards.  Very cute idea, IMO.  And I'd do them AT the shower.

  • Megan, love! Thanks for the saying!

And good...I had advice cards filled out at my shower and it was cute, I like the tying into the recipe idea with it.

    Thanks on both accounts girls!

  • Hannah, I just got a VP email with 35% off storewide and free shipping, you want it?

Sure, that'd be great!  I need to go through my VP emails and see what is best, I'll take it though, thanks!

  • Hannah - I just skimmed by your other post on TK regarding this.. and in your sample .. I forget the names now.. but in the first option it was Katie & Joe and then in the second example you said Katie & Ben! lol

I got a kick out of that Wink

  • I am doing the same thing for my friend's shower in May.  We are sending them out in the invites and used VP for business cards.  I think all I put was something about "For the couple who loves to cook, please share with them your favorite recipes."   Very simple and straight to the point

  •  Kearstin- Lol, maybe I meant to use fake names and forgot 1/2 way through?

Michelle, I've been wondering where you've been woman!  I remembered you were doing this and I hope you don't mind my stealing the cute idea.

I decided on a cheesy-saying b/c I'm like that, and so is the bride:

Bride is learning how to cook,

so please share a recipe from your book.

    Snack, app, entree, or dessert for two;

when she makes it, she'll think of you!

Then adding in Megan's line about bringing to shower and if not then mailing in they still want to share.

OMG, I love this saying! I was trying to think of something cutesy this morning, but was drawing a blank. This is perfect :)

  • haha, I can't take credit.  Some girls on TK boards gave it to me. Fun though!
  • Haven't been nesting much lately....takes me a while to catch up.  I added a line about bringing them with them to the shower or mailing them.  I love the idea of the advice cards...may steal that for my sister's shower.

  • I had a Pampered Chef shower and they sent out recipe cards with the invites and then had the guests bring the cards to the shower and put them in a recipe book that everyone signed. I love that book and use it all the time!!

I love the "recipe for a healthy marriage" idea also and agree with PP's to do it at the shower.

I would like to thank for penning such an interesting article. I am going to conduct my friend’ s bridal shower this weekend. I will bring these bridal shower recipe cards to home.
