Re: Monday Accountability Post
1. How MM was your weekend?
Friday-$0
Saturday- $15 Mini golf, $15 Friendly's for ice cream
Sunday- $100 Donation to H's co-worker whose in the hospital, $42 Gas
Total- $172
2. Any progress towards goals?
$325 into house account
$325 into vacation account
3. What is your least favorite chore?
I would have to say dusting. I'm a little OCD about it so I feel like a take a long time to do it. But I just hate that this dust comes back week after week after week and it just feels never ending.
1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good- groceries ($160), gas ($41), lunch for my parents ($40), target ($100), first batch of new siding to be primed and painted ($170)
2. Any progress towards goals? Not much new. DH is officially on summer break so it's always a little tighter since he only gets 2 $1,000 paychecks over the summer. But the girls are only at day care 3 times a week so that'll help for sure.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? Cleaning the bathrooms. As soon as the girls are out of day care, we're getting a cleaning service once a week- I can't wait!
Saturday-$20 (DH at Scottish festival)
Sunday-$20 to add an endorsement to my professional license
$32 at the grocery store
$10 at the dollar store
$9.50 at the movies
Total-$131.50 (mostly/roughly budgeted)
Progress toward goals--not really. We got two more contractors to come to get estimates on our roof, so we'll be writing a big check for that in the next month or so (we've saved to pay cash). Most of our savings are all on auto-payment, so it doesn't typically feel like we've made any "progress" toward goals because we tend to do the same thing every month. And with DH (and me) still in school, we don't typically have a lot of extra wiggle room in the budget. I did squirrel away an extra $100 in short-term spending for the month (we have another vacation coming up, a winery tour, dental work for DH, some co-pays for doctor visits, etc.--it's a costly month!).
Least favorite chore--dusting! It also takes me forever because my mother made me very thorough.
1. How MM was your weekend? It was pretty good. Just food and gas which was budgeted for in envelopes.
2. Any progress towards goals? Sold a couple of things so that money will go into savings.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? L-A-U-N-D-R-Y
1. How MM was your weekend? Not too bad. It was our town days this weekend and we had friends stay with us all weekend, but everything was budgeted for. Groceries = $40, Fireman's breakfast = $20 donation, Beer garden (entertainment) = $30, picked up a pack n play at a garage sale for baby = $15
2. Any progress towards goals? Put aside $200 for new tires for my car (if we don't get it sold before winter). The big one (drumroll please)......... stayed within my $400 grocery budget for June! Woot! That category has been the most difficult for me. It wasn't easy, but I did it. Even with having unexpected family stay with us for a week for my grandma's funeral, then this weekend of entertaining guests. We didn't even live on beans and rice.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? Cleaning the shower. You have to get in it and scrub it, and yuck. I would rather clean 5 toilets before 1 shower.

1. How MM was your weekend? Good! We had $50 left in our entertainment budget, which we spent $40 of (thanks to good Groupons!). And our fridge, freezer and pantry were stocked so no trip to the grocery store.
Plus, my friend picked up the tab when we went for drinks yesterday, which means I haven't spent a dime of my $150 "mad money" allotment for the last two weeks.
2. Any progress towards goals? Yes! A little less than $2,000 toward the $7,000 debt on the fun HVAC surprise we incurred in May. $475 to my Roth, an extra $475 to my student loan. And $250 to spend on our long-weekend in Florida.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? Cleaning the shower. I HATE grout but prefer the look of tile over Onyx and other similar surrounds.
1. How MM was your weekend? Not horrible, just $45 for dinner and bowling with friends on Saturday. I got lazy and didn't make it to Costco or the supermarket so I'll be spending some money today (Costco membership renewal is due so I have to remember to mentally add that on to whatever else I spend today)
2. Any progress towards goals? Our e-fund is now up to 10 months, which may come in handy because DH's work just had another lay-off and there might be more coming.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? Dishes, ugh. Actually anything kitchen related because it feels like as soon as it's clean you have to get it dirty again to cook. I actually liked it when my in-laws lived with us for a short time because MIL would do the dishes everyday, and I helped her out by doing all the laundry. It was so nice not to have to wash pots and pans!
Good - about $40 gas, $15 on randoms (aloe lotion, shampoo, etc).
2. Any progress towards goals?
Yes - one of our goals is to cut back on anything and everything we can. We previously slashed our auto insurance. Now starting July, our house insurance premium will go down $200 for our six month coverage period. Although it will take a little longer for our mortgage/escrow to adjust, it's still a savings (with no change in coverage)!
3. What is your least favorite chore to do?
Putting laundry and dishes away. I don't mind doing laundry or dishes, just hate actually putting everything away! Lol
Happy July 4th weekend everyone!
Happy Monday!
1. How MM was your weekend?
- It wasn't bad...we went to the aquarium so there was $10 parking and $10 toy (yes we bought our son a toy there), then just food and groceries for the weekend with the ILs in town. DH also did a triathlon for $92 but it's a sport that he loves so I don't really complain.
2. Any progress towards goals?
- YES! This month we are paying an extra $3,300 towards the principal of our mortgage! I'm cheating by a few days and using this week's paycheck early. We have also increased our retirement savings beginning in July so that we are saving 14% of our gross income, which is 21% of our takehome pay split between 401(k), Roth IRA and mutual funds.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do?
- Laundry because sometimes our dryer doesn't dry everything and we have to rewash it because it'll start to smell and we didn't know it was still damp.
Yay to a long weekend coming up!
1. How MM was your weekend?
Really good considering I wasn't feeling well so I didn't go out. Friday we spent an additional $10 on food out, and I spent $5 on bread and cupcakes for lunch on Saturday.
2. Any progress towards goals?
Other than the fact we didn't spend more than we needed to, yes. Well I was able to save $55 on a vet visit since it was too early for shots, so I pushed that money into next month to cover those expenses.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do?
Putting away my/DH's laundry and washing the shower. I rather put away DD's clothes since they are so small. DH washes the shower right now so I don't smell fumes, but he doesn't do it on a timely basis which bothers me. Oh well.
1. How MM was your weekend? Not too good, did grocery shopping on Friday for Saturday, $100. Saturday I went to my company's golf outing, that was $40 since I bought whiskey for my group at $4 a bottle. Water and gatorade was $3 each. Next time I will bring my own. Sunday, MW treated our peanut to BWs, not sure how much that cost but that was from her "extra" money.
2. Any progress towards goals? Our automatic moves to savings will take place this week I also paid $230 towards my credit card.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? Doing dishes, MW is suppose to be in charge of the dishwasher and I am suppose to be in charge of the large dishes. Lately neither of us have been doing this as often as we should.
2. Any progress towards goals? We will be able to put $1,500 put away for school tomorrow morning! It is looking like we will be able to have it all saved by August 1st! I can't wait to be in school full time.
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? Putting laundry away. I can wash, dry & fold but I HATE putting it into drawers.

1. How MM was your weekend? The last weekend in June was good- We grocery shopped, came in under budget- Made some meals for the week and spent time at the house and the beach- all free entertainment.
2. Any progress towards goals? I intro'd to the group today- H and I had a major sit down and talk and we are officially starting our new process in MM. Setting up goals, finalizing budget this week!
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? Laundry! I just hate folding.
I'm late to the boat this week- sorry!
1. How MM was your weekend? Honestly, the budget has fallen to the way side since we've made it back from vacation. I have not been keeping up our spreadsheet because there has been so much else to do to get the house show-able and to find a new house. I think we did pretty good this weekend- we ate out several times, but once was completely free because we had 2 free meals teacher cards from my sister, and the others we had coupons for b1g1 half. I really need to get back to it, the only thing that isn't making me panic about this situation is that we use the envelope system, so we shouldn't overspend.
2. Any progress towards goals?
Sunday we went out to a model home park and found THE HOUSE!!!! It's going to be complete in the middle of August, and I was waiting for photos of the finishes before we put in an offer. We should be meeting our realtor there tomorrow to put in our offer!
3. What is your least favorite chore to do? Laundry. Seriously, it seems like it NEVER ends with a 1 year old especially.
