HELP!!!! NASTY NEIGHBORS!!!

I need some serious help!!!  So I've been living in my house for about a year.  My husband and I saw the house for the first time in the winter months so we didn't get a chance to see the BUM neighbors living next door.  Their are a lot of unrelated people living in the house next door (including a toddler) and including a registered sex offender.  The problem with them is they are very sketchy, people in and out all of the time. blasting music outside.  They are the only home on the block that is constantly loud.  So since its been getting warm outside I have all of a sudden seeing bugs in my house.  Now I am a neuroticly clean person.  We will not even go to sleep with dishes in the sink!!  Tonight I went out to put the trash out b/c my husband was not home and the get that we share was infested with roaches on it!!!!  I could not believe it!!  I kept wondering how in the hell do we have roaches.  I even had an exterminator come in previously and they could not believe the house had roaches.  Now its not infested but I see at least one a day which means they are around.  I need to know what process can I take to get these NASTY ASS PEOPLE OUT!!!!!!???  As I'm typing this I hear them outside making noise.  P.S. Nobody in that house works.  How do you get the town or state to condemn  a house.  PLEASE HELP!!!!! I also have a baby that I need to protect

Is your house detached from your neighbor's house? If so, you can put down traps on the outside of your home to prevent the bugs from entering. For a more natural way of doing this, peppermint oil deters insects.

Stop sharing the trash with your neighbors. Insects feed on foods that they enjoy, and if they are in that trash area, they could find a food from one of your trash bags, and track the scent back to your house. By moving your waste to a different location, far away from the existing trash area, you can prevent the insects from tracking food scents back to your home.

Inspect all entrances into your home for openings where bugs could enter. Pay close attention to window sills and screens, door jambs, and utility lines. Use caulk to block any of these potential entrances to your home.

Look up the ordinance/code for your city or town on the maximum number of people that are allowed to live in the dwelling, and report them to the town or city if they are violating those terms.

Also, start getting the cops involved if the neighbors are causing a disturbance, violating quiet times or volume/decibel ordinances, or if there are signs of abuse. You do not want to confront these people on your own. Let the cops take care of that aspect of this issue.
  • Call the police regarding the sex offender/child situation. It is illegal for a sex offender to live with a child. As PP suggested find out the laws regarding the amount of people allowed to live in one home. Also find out the laws regarding noise. Most cities/towns have certain times that are "quiet time". Try talking to some of your other neighbors. Odds are that if you are having issues with these people so are the other neighbors.

  • Also, if you believe the home is unsanitary for living or causing bugs to come to your property, you can report it to your city or town's zoning department. They will send out an inspector and determine whether or not the owner needs to improve living conditions. If zoning finds unsanitary living conditions at the house and children are living there, they will be required to contact DCYF.

Thank you guys so much!!  I called the town and they are suppose to be sending someone out but the health department told me there is nothing they can do, that I should talk to the neighbors.  These are not the kinda of people you want to approach!
  • Unless they are renters, I don't think there is too much you can do to get rid of them.

  • Get a professional exterminator to spray a property barrier, there is a name for it that I cannot remember but it is basically sprayed around the edge of your property. This should decrease the bugs from their house getting into yours.

Why do you share trash with them?

The sex offenders/children thing usually only applies to schools and playgrounds.
