Phone interview while working FT?

I received an email today requesting a phone interview for a job I applied to last night. It's a great opportunity with a job much closer to home (right now, I'm commuting an hour).

They want to do a phone interview but I work 45 hour work weeks right now. I don't have a car I could sneak into over lunch until next week (currently out it commission). Do I see if we could do it after work (~6pm). It's very hard in my current position to sneak out early.

Thoughts? I want to get back to her ASAP.

Re: Phone interview while working FT?

  • This happened to me when I was trying to get out of my last position. I would leave at lunch to do the call. Even if you don't have a car, try just walking around outside where no one else is maybe?
  • I would definitely leave at lunch to do the call. Just take a walk to a quiet place.
I had a phone interview while working my 9-6 job. I told them the situation and thankfully the companies office hours were 8-430. I was able to have my interview early in the morning before I went to work.
    Good luck!
