What did you read in JUNE?
We're halfway through the year! (WUT) What did you read this month? How was it? How many for the year so far?
Re: What did you read in JUNE?
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen: 4 stars
The Illustrated Guide to Edible Wild Plants: 5 stars
Project ELE by Rebecca Gober: 4 stars
Finding ELE by Rebecca Gober: 3 stars

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
"I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
1776 by David McCullough - 5 stars
The Manchurian Candidate by Richard Condon - 5 stars (4 stars? I'm still kind of torn)
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell - 4 stars
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo - 2 stars (seriously, I feel like I read a different book than all of you, because I just wasn't into this one. I'm listening to the second one now, and it's slightly better, I think)
This makes 30 for the year, which was my sort-of goal. I'm not upping my goal or anything, I was just aiming to read more than last year, and I only read 30 last year altogether, so I'm psyched to be there already at only halfway through the year.
Sugar & Spice
Ruin and Rising - 4 stars
Push Girl - 5 stars, I loved it!
I am SO ridiculously behind this year... Push Girl was #16 for the whole year. Although my AVERAGE number of pages per book is 670, so there's that...
52 Books in 2014??

The Fracking King, James Browning - 2*
Wonder, R.J. Palacio - 5*
Just Ride: A Radically Practical Guide to Riding Your Bike, Grant Petersen - 4*
The Android's Dream, John Scalzi - 5*
I just noticed I met my goal! Last year I failed, and was so worried I would this year that I set my goal low at 40 books. I've read 42 so far this year. If it weren't for audibooks I would be desperately behind, as I've listened to all but 14 of those I've had so little time for reading-reading, but I've been walking and now running and listening to audiobooks while I do it. Time to up my goal -- 60 maybe.

I'm working on number 38 for the year now. We'll see where I end up. I think 65-75 books is my "healthiest" zone; I don't rush through like a crazy person to meet some goal, so I think my mid-year is right on track.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."
