Re: Happy 4th of July! What are you reading?

  • I'm reading Wallflower at the Orgy.  It's a collection of articles that Nora Ephron (When Harry Met Sally..., Sleepless in Seattle, etc.) wrote, mostly back in the 60s.  It's pretty good, and it's a quick read.  I'm expecting 2 or 3 e-books to be available from holds very soon so I don't want to get into anything that is too involved and then have to put it aside to manage the holds.

  • I just finished Red Rising for the Reading Lottery and will post about that later. I started Sloppy Firsts since it was recommended on here. It's pretty good so far and a quick and easy read.
  • I'm still working on Written in My Own Heart's Blood as well as Titan's Curse and Hope Was Here.

I just finished Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress by Marrisa Meyers.  I loved them and am now having a book hangover.  I thought it was a trilogy and am very sad that I have to wait for the last book to come out next year!

Now I'm re-reading the Harry Potter series.

  • I'm rereading Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn for about the 100th time (very slight exaggeration, my book is falling apart).  Of course I love it and it's totally high fantasy kind of stuff.  It was my favorite kind of thing to read when I was a teenager and while I don't read books like it quite as much now, I still love it!

I'm also reading The Secret Garden on the Kindle ap when I can't sleep.  That's pretty much every night for a while!  There is also a good bit of nostalgia with this reread.

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
    "I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

  • I just finished The Death Cure.  I just can't get into this series.  I think it's because I don't think it should have been a series.  Just a 3 part book.  I will be starting The Kill Order today.

I'm still listening to Outlander and still loving it!  I'm catching a lot of things I missed reading it the first time.

I just finished Ruin and Rising and the end was so good (although the middle was sort of plodding and just ok).

I'm about 50 pages into Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater and I like it ok so far. I am fanatically obsessed with the Raven Boys series and loved Scorpio Races, but the wolves were never my favorite. I figured I'd give that series another try though since I got a copy at ALA last weekend.

I'm also listening to Unbroken, which is phenomenal. Even though it's a biography, it really reads more like a novel. I'd love to find more books like this one.
