SuBC: Shelf Discovery

Book related to my work"

Shelf Discovery: The Teen Classics We Never Stopped Reading is a series of essays about teen books. I'd read many of them, maybe half? I am the YA person at my library so reading about teen books was very relevant to my job. It was an interesting mix of things that would still be in stores and library shelves and ones that have long since disappeared. One of my jobs is to weed the YA collection. My boss, the children's librarian, says it's hard when it is books you loved in your childhood. But, times and books change, which was apparent in this book.

Re: SuBC: Shelf Discovery

  • I read this and realized that I was maybe 7-10 years younger than the author and intended audience. I thought it was good and fun but hadn't read a huge number of the books that she talked about.

Yeah, I was a little younger than the author. I did remember most books (or at least authors) even if I never read them.
