Looks like I'm joining the PCOS camp. Transvaginal ultrasound is next week.
I know a lot of women have it, but I feel super pouty right now.
Also when the doc mentioned Clomid or Femara, I asked about doing monitoring ultrasounds and she said she did not do them - if she did, they would cost extra and probably wouldn't be covered. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I'm sorry you are joining team PCOS, but at least on the bright side you know what you are treating... And the first step doesn't have to be a jump to meds if you aren't comfortable going that route yet. I had good success with diet, acupuncture, and homeopathics working with my naturopath to help me ovulate.
If you are more comfortable going the med route, I agree that an RE may be a better option because monitoring seems like the safest approach.

Thank you for all the support ladies! I was disheartened when I heard the doc say that about the ultrasounds this morning... this is the first time I'd seen her (I usually go to a nurse-midwife for my annuals). Our insurance is through DH's work and they just switched providers, so I called up HR to find out if they could tell me where I can find out what exactly would be covered, if anything. Still waiting for a call back.
@lindsayandjamie, what did you do for diet? Any other ladies do similar?

In all seriousness though, I'm sorry about your diagnosis. I know it's hard not to be bummed but it really isn't the end of your journey. Really, it's only the beginning! Just think of it as finally heading in the right direction!

In my case we started with eliminating dairy and sugar (but I was also treating some other symptoms simultaneously). I know @brij2006 has a more prescriptive PCOS diet she was following, but I don't remember the details. Maybe she can help you?

I agree with low carb, I'm on it now. PCOS is shitty, but hopeful.
Hugs.
