Fitness Post

How has everyone been doing?

I finished week 3 of C210K and start week 4 tonight.  I have been really struggling with my breathing while running, so it has been tough, but I am determined to push through since I do miss running.  I skipped the last two days of my other work outs, but overall have been doing good.  I usually hate working out at home, but what motivates me to do it is how little time it takes, so it has been easier to stick to than I thought.

On the downside, the 4th really threw a wrench in my eating.  I have been slacking since.  On the upside, I hit 1 month of packing my lunch every day!  This is big for me since I can't even remember the last time I packed my lunch once a week (if I ever even did that).  Of course, I celebrated by forgetting my lunch and snacks today, LOL.

Re: Fitness Post

  • Good job at packing the lunch. I can be bad about that. Or pack and then do not want what I packed and run out for something. :)

I joined WW 2 weeks ago. Did pretty good except we keep having these parties. ALthough this lat grad party the food was horrible!! So didn't waste many points.

I ordered new sneakers and am ready to start running too. Now back to work, I am hoping to get us in some sort of routine (as much as you can with a 10 week old) and either run/walk outside or get the treadmill set up again. I got a cold late last week, so I could barely breathe and didn't even attempt to exercise. I know I feel a million times better when exercising. I need to just sign up for a 5K to get me motivated!!

Now to survive the little picnic we are having at the house saturday after Julia's baptism. Ha. I know the food will be good at this one. Ha.

  • I was doing pretty good with either getting up and going for a bike ride in the morning or hopping on the treadmill at night after the kids were in bed, but then both my achilles flared up and I had to back off.  I could hardly walk, let alone run.

They've improved with rest and my doc recommended getting heel cups for my shoes and not wearing flats anymore to work.  I thought I was doing my feet a favor with the flats.

  • Between camping and our north shore adventure last evening, I've managed to get to 10,000 steps on my fitbit twice this week. I should be able to do it a third time while we're walking around DC on Saturday.

A typical workday, even with chores and cooking dinner is only 3,000-3,500 steps, so it takes more than just a quick evening walk to get there.

  • I've been faithfully attending yoga and really enjoying it. The studio I go to just started doing hot yoga and holy hell - it's hard. But I feel good at the end:) I do think I want to get back to also going to the gym on my lunch hour here and doing the elliptical. I got kind of burnt out/discouraged after a crummy 5k, but I feel like my clothes are getting a little snug and I need a kick in the pants to get back to where I'm comfortable. I will NOT let myself get back to my pre-baby weight :/
  • I've been doing ok but not great. We just seem to have lots of things going on making it hard to fit in my classes or a run. Dh also does stuff too so it's hard to schedule us both getting out to do things when one of us needs to be with dd.

I've been going to 2 Zumba classes a week but haven't been able to get in a 3rd class. I want to do Saturday morning but seems something always comes up Saturday. I took Monday off and really planned on going to a class that morning but I ended up getting a stomach bug or something Sunday overnight! Ugh!!

Anyways, now that tball is over I've been trying to get dd to go on a bike ride so I can get in somewhat of a jog with her. And then trying to get another run on my own at some point. But I am getting annoyed because lately I keep getting side stitches. Otherwise I feel great running but have to take breaks because of my side! I don't understand why sometimes they are so bad!

Where is the hot yoga?  Is it in our area?  I've been wanting to try it.

Yep, it's in McDonald across from the Subway. I just posted a link on FB today if you want to check it out - she's doing an open house event next week where you can try any class for free :)

I registered for Disney's Glass Slipper Challenge at the Princess Half Marathon yesterday. The races are in February, a 10K one day and a half marathon the next. So this is happening, I need to get in shape. My only actual training race is the Great Race. I'm doing short runs in the park after work, but I'll need to start amping up to get ready for september soon, and then a bunch more to be ready for a half. I'll be slow, but I'll finish :-)

I was going to ask you about this! I think the owner called my work looking for a way to heat her studio (someone else referred her)!  I may give it a try next week, I'll let you know.

I ordered the 21 Day Fix. It should be there when I get home. I need to do something. I miss group classes but the ones near me don't work time wise and the place I like is a half-hour each way.

Haha -that's too funny:) She ended up with I think 9 radiant heat things that are attached at the ceiling. It gets the job done ;) Let me know if you decide to go!
  • I posted the last time we did this that I finally felt like I was on track by faithfully going to the fitness class on my lunch break at work twice per week for 1 hour classes...that all went downhill now that I've been struggling to get rid of this awful pneumonia.  I just finished the antibiotics yesterday so I'm hopeful that things will be better next week.  I didn't go to the class for almost 2 weeks, then went back Wednesday of this week....holy hell, between the coughing fits and just the fact that I had been sedentary for almost 2 weeks, it was a really rough hour!!  it's discouraging since I was finally doing something, but I'm determined to get back into it full swing next week and go both days.

  • You ladies are all so dedicated - I applaud you, struggles and all!

The most exercise I get is walking up the stairs a few times a day. Hardly enough. Thankfully my weight has stayed the same since I started working remote almost a year ago, but I know I'm more fluffy than I should be.

After lunch yesterday, the older boys wanted to bike ride around our new neighborhood. Since there are no sidewalks, and I'm not that familiar with the traffic patterns yet, I ended up leashing up the dog and walking with them It felt good to do. It was probably only a half mile, but if I can get in the habit of doing the loop twice every weekday with them, it can only benefit me!
