Religion

I was just thinking about this when I was responding to Megan's post. I really don't know which of us are religious and which ones of us aren't. I know that some of us use T&Ps regularly, but I thought it might be interesting to know a little bit more about everyone. Don't worry, you don't have to share if you don't want to.

I was raised Lutheran, and still really much believe in that. J is Catholic, although not at all practicing. Both of us have kind of drifted away from the "church" so to speak, but we both believe that there is a God out there.

Re: Religion

  • I was raised Lutheran (ELCA).  My dad was Catholic so I am aware of some of the traditions that he practiced. He did some of those traditions, but attended church with us.  J doesn't believe in God.  This drives me batty.  While he isn't directly insensitive to religion, he does make comments.  If I could change one thing about him, it would be that he believe in God.  I don't attend Church. I tried when I moved out to CO, and attended churches that scarred me for life.  So I haven't returned.
  • I am more spiritual than religious. I believe in a higher power but is think that a lot of politics are involved in religion.

When I use T&Ps I basically mean thinking of you in a positive way.

    This is me too.
  • My answer is pretty much exactly what Aleigha said. P does not believe in God and while I can accept that, what drives me crazy is when he is insensitive toward religion. We were both raised Catholic. My parents were very strict Catholic while his were less so. Most of his family does not attend church but they believe. I stopped attending church shortly after moving out of my parents house. It's an on going thing between us.,

  • My ILs are at church every week. His mom is the music director, and everyone else is so involved. Like they purposefully make time to go to church. I mean there is nothing wrong with that, it's just a bit surprising that he is so anti religious sometimes.

  • Joy is Buddhist, but it's honestly more a way of living per se than a "religion" even though it's labeled as such.  I lean toward being Methodist, but we haven't been to church since we moved and don't really feel like seeking one out.

  • I am Catholic and I like to attend church but DH doesn't really care to go. He was raised Catholic and Lutheran. We both do really enjoy going to the little church affiliated with the local college because the priest is so great. We connect with him. It's just difficult to take Liliana. Plus, there is only mass when the college is in session so May-September we can't go. We should just attend the main Catholic church in town but DH really has no desire. I wish he would go for me. I miss attending regularly.
