WIMOHB question about the end SP

I just read the other spoiler discussion posts since I finished this week, but I didn't see this discussed at all.

When Bree & Roger show up with the kids at the end, how old are they? They were in 1739 when they were reunited themselves, but now it's like 40 years later in Claire's timeline. Jem & Mandy would be full grown with kids of their own and Bree & Roger should be probably around Jamie & Claire's age, right? In order to be young, they'd have had to travel through the stones at least one more time and hope for a 40 year hop instead of 200. With how rough their travel had been, I don't think they'd look to make that trip again, but maybe?

  • They made the trip.

  • Yeah, I agree.  They time jumped again.  I'm sure we'll hear all about it in the next book.

Staying where they were wasn't an option. Neither was going back to the 1980's.
They made the trip 40 yrs into the future.
  • It is what makes the most sense. It must have been SO hard for them to come to that decision though. I imagine we'll get an explanation in book 9 via conversation between Bree and Claire.

  • I figured they went through the stones again. I wonder if Jenny will recognize Roger. So excited to see where their story goes next!

I think it was always the idea. They couldn't stay in any other time.

  • See, I would have gone back through to 1980s and then flown to America before going through stones again over there. Two  terrifying time passages beats 3 months on the open sea!

Except Bree is afraid of Rob and his gang. Nothing would make her chance running into them again.

  • I agree that she wanted to get away from Rob no matter what.
Do you think we will  have to wait for the next full novel to find out about their travels? I'm really hoping there will be a Bree and Roger novella or that she'll write a spin off for them like she did Lord John.

We will probably have to wait.  I see her summing it up in a conversation with Claire and Jamie that will only take a few pages.

This is how I see us learning the story too.

  • I just finished this book last night.  I took it as they made the trip from 1739 forward to the time Jamie and Claire were in.  I loved this book.  I dragged it out as long as I could and now I'm sad its over.  I kept wishing Roger and Bri would get to the freaking Ridge already because I wanted to read about their reunion.  I knew it was coming.  I wish we would have got to read more about it but I did like the way she ended the book.  Henri-Christian :((   I'm still thinking about that poor little guy.

The way this scene was described still sends a shiver down my spine.
