Monday Accountability Post

1. How MM was your weekend?

2. Any progress towards goals?

3. Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds for 1 day?

Re: Monday Accountability Post

  • 1. Friday- $23 pizza

        Saturday- $28 Kayaking, $24 lunch

Sunday- $116 Kohls, AC Moore- $6, Walmart- $5

Total- $202 All paid in cash except Kohls

    2. Put $500 into house act, $500 into e-fund

    3. I'd rather be invisible so I could go into places that I normally couldn't to see what's going on. I don't want to know what others are thinking, that scares me.....

    1. Our was pretty $$$$.  We had an impromptu shopping spree for H for some new clothes - it's been a couple years since we've bought him casual clothing, and some of his really needed to be replaced.  It was about $300, but we're still several hundred dollars cash positive this month because I way overestimated how much we would be spending in other categories.  So we were ok with it.

On the bright side, H and I celebrated cow appreciation day at Chick fil a on Friday.  We also used our calendar card and ended up getting two chicken sandwich meals with fries, lemonade, and two milkshakes for $0.30.  I was pretty happy about that :)

    2. Our sellers have decided they don't want to pay our extension fee for closing.  So it looks like we are on track to close the first week of August still.  I'm excited about that!

    3. I would rather be invisible.  I think if I could read people's minds I would wind up paranoid about what they thought of me.

    1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad- groceries ($94- my parents' veggie garden is in full swing, so they brought up a lot of produce for us!), Saturday lunch with DH ($20), Target ($100)

    2. Any progress towards goals? Not much new. We have a CD up in August so I think we'll move it to our credit union unless our bank is willing to match. (Bank is 0.1% and the credit union is 1.15%.. both stink, but I want to keep this money relatively accessible)

    3. Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds for 1 day? I guess read people's minds.. neither really seems appealing to me though. I would rather teleport or be able to fly... something like that.

Teleport would be awesome.  I think I would teleport myself to a vacation destination that costs a fortune in airfare and takes two days to get to (Maldives?)

  • 1.  Pretty bad: $100 for a wedding gift, $60 in drinks at the wedding, $15 lunch on the run on Saturday, $12 for a growler of beer.  At least I made $98 teaching a dive class I guess?

    2.  No major progress except for staying on budget for the most part and putting money away for moving expenses.  I'm starting to also reevaluate our post-moving goals.  I think I'd like to pad our e-fund another $2000-$3000 and then dig into snowballing our cars.  I'm not willing to cut my retirement contributions for the debt snowball, though.  I'll have to crunch some numbers and find the right balance.  I'm liking the idea of trying to kill our high-interest debt (everything except H's SLs) in the next five years since I just had funding for my job extended five years.

    3.  I would HATE to read people's minds.  I'm that girl who will avoid people who I think may be talking about me because I just don't want to know.  Being invisible might be fun though!
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

It was spendy, but within reason. I did spend $300 this weekend on baby essentials, but I budgeted it from DH getting a bonus. I love unexpected money.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

I was able to put away $41 towards debt payoff and I purchased a new car seat for DD and saved about $70. I'm very happy with that purchase.

    3. Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds for 1 day?

Invisible. I don't want to know what people think about me.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not shabby at all.  H spent $40 on car maintenance for his toy car, and I spent $12 on groceries.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Put $450 aside for baby expenses.
Complete AW time:  My job is partial commission and I get a really high commission on life insurance policies. I am set up to sell a large policy this month.  My commission on the sale of that 1 policy is going to be $3k.  We're debating on whether to take that and pay off the last of H's student loan so his are finished before baby comes, or just bank it.
Unfortunately I probably won't have enough expenses in taxes to offset this large check, so we will have to put some aside to plan for that.

    3. Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds for 1 day?  Invisibility.  Like @hoffse I would worry about what people thought of me.

  • a little spendier than usual...
    1.
Friday-$95 Banana Republic a nice pair of work slacks, two blouses that could be worn with said slacks, and a pair of patent wedges(I couldn't resist their 50% sale items deal and I had $50 in rewards on my Banana Visa)

Saturday- $60.10-Sidewalk sale Vera Bradley splurge ($135 of Vera)
    $92 Grocery store

Sunday- $38 on lobster dinner to celebrate our anniversary (2 hard shell lobsters, 2 lbs of steamer clams, stuffed baked potatoes, vino)

    2. We've set a goal to save before we start work on renovating our basement into a guest bedroom and a bonus room (craft room/theater), H is motivated and on board with the plan, all other savings/progress towards debt will remain on track, but as H heads into the holidays (at FedEx) any OT he earns is going to go into this savings account, I also added another 2 hours of teaching to my schedule this year so the additional pay from that is going into that savings account.  we have a goal of $7000 before we start work, my contractor is estimating it'll take less than $5000 to get the job done, so we have a buffer and might be able to buy some furniture once it's done.

    3. neither one of those sounds appealing, I guess I'd have to pick invisible, I don't think I want to know what people think.  I'd agree about teleportation.

  • 1. Reallly good. did a little shopping for baby- stayed in my budget. H sold some tools and did a brake job for a friend made over $200... Set Back:  H's truck needed new Rotors. he picked up a rock and shredded his front. so spend the $200 on parts-   Sucked but we did not have to dip into the bank account for anything for his truck. so it was OK.
Spent no other money- we've been very careful!

    2. Just sticking to budget so far. Goals are just to get caught up on bills and get everything needed for baby..  just making baby steps today.

    3. I'd want to know what people think.. however, I think it is something I'd regret knowing later.  but on the forefront, it sounds cool

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad. $5 enterance fee for a state park and $80 to fill up the truck with gas.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Not really. We've been spending money left and right lately and we need to get back on track. DH keeps buying toys for our 2 nieces and nephew which is nice but it's becoming ridiculous. We're all going to Florida for a family vacation with his side of the family in a few months and DH is convinced that the kids need all this stuff in order to have a good time (each kid needs a pool noodle, an inner tube, snorkel gear, the list goes on and on). I'm torn between thinking it's the sweetest thing ever and worrying about how much stuff he's going to end up buying when we eventually start having our own kids, lol. But his heart is in the right place at least.

    3. Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds for 1 day? I'd go for invisibility. I'd like to be able to sneak into places and have that "fly on a wall"experience.

  • 1 - Really good.  We didn't eat out at all because we recently came back from vacation.  I donated $3 to a spiritual yoga class I attended yesterday.  DH went to lowes on sunday and spent $30.

2- I booked 3 weddings right before we left town a couple weeks ago.  I just put the checks in the bank on saturday.  part of the money will go towards replenishing e fund and our retirements.  I also booked an event while I was out of town.  That check should be coming this week with another wedding check as well.  $$ is good.

We are officially using community america now.  I only have 2 accounts left to close with commerce. 1 is a checking that is already zeroed out and my cc with them which is a balance of $500.

3- I would rather be invincible.  I would hate to read peoples minds.

    1. Good!  Just groceries and Redbox a few times.  Didn't buy anything crazy, it was all household or grocery stuff.

    2. Each week we save our extra money to put a chunk towards mortgage principal, so we saved $185 on Friday for that.

    3. Invisible. :)
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Bad. A $250 dollar vet bill, $75 on groceries and $27 in gas.

    2. Any progress towards goals? None. Vet bill threw us off big time.

    3. Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds for 1 day? Invisible.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? no idea. not even really keeping track right now which sucks. We were home Saturday for LO's birthday party, but Sunday we were gone all day because of showings. That has made it impossible to keep up our spreadsheet budget, so I"m really glad we use cash for almost everything. We didn't spend much other than eating out and the party, but all this has been budgetted.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Nope. I think we are signing a contract to sell our house tonight though. Still an FHA loan- we didn't get any conventional offers, but way more favorable terms for us so if something does need to be fixed we feel that we can afford it from what we are going to be getting.

    3. Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds for 1 day? Able to read people's minds for sure- It would be so cool to know what my LO was thinking while he plays or does whatever during the day.

  • 1) We were on track. We only bought groceries and I saved a few bucks on that between coupons and things being on sale. The only other thing we spent money on was gas for DH's car.

    2) Staying on budget right now so we should be able to put the usual amount into our various savings. On track despite our dog's vet bills. She may have an autoimmune disease so we had to have a skin biopsy done last week. Should know early this week and figure out how much extra per month this is going to cost us.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not too bad.  We stayed under our $50 entertainment budget with Friday night dinner at Goodcents and then Sunday lunch at Sweet Tomatoes.  I also made an awesome discovery with Clothes Mentor - a consignment store.  Bought two pairs of shorts and three tops for my upcoming vacation (plus a pair of dress shoes for work) for less than $75.  Also, saved several hundred dollars on hair-care products for the YEAR with Beauty Brand's $12.99 liter sale (you should see our bathroom closet!!).  75%+ off is the only time I'll splurge on salon brand products!!

    2. Any progress towards goals?  Not really, this is made mostly for us at the end of the month...

    3. Would you rather be invisible or be able to read people's minds for 1 day? I think both options could turn out badly... but I would opt for the ability to teleport!
