NBR Question

Are you friends with any of your exes?  Brought to you by a recent facebook friend request that I ignored and a fight my BFF had with her GF a couple of weeks ago.  I'm just curious.

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I am with one of mine...he is also married and he and his wife have 2 kids. We aren't super close but we usually text each other on birthdays and catch up a little around the holidays. They don't live near us but anytime we travel to where they are we try and visit.

Other than that, no....I had one ex that got in touch with me about 1.5 years ago and we were chatting for a while. Then he asked how my marriage was and after I gave it a glowing review he stopped talking to me...so much for my naive belief he just wanted to be friends again.

At this point I wouldn't mind being friends with any of my exes so long as all they truly wanted was friendship and not a chance to rekindle "what could have been..."
  • There are a few I am friendly with on the rare occasion I run into them, but I wouldn't say I really maintained a friendship with any of them.  Most of these guys aren't around for a reason and there is really only one that I sometimes miss being friends with.

It was a pretty big fight between my BFF and her GF a couple of weeks ago.  BFF is still close friends with all of her exes and GF doesn't like it.  I see where both of them are coming from.

  • I'm friendly with them.  We share friends so seeing some is inevitable, but it's a casual acquaintance.

However, I'm really close with J's serious ex.  She's pretty fantastic.

  • @sonore32 yeah, I am definitely not interested in any "what could have been" conversations with any of them ever lol

@SnShne322 I didn't know you were friends with J's ex!  See, I think that makes things totally different.  BFF's GF doesn't really even know any of her exes, much less have a friendship with them, so I think that might change things.

@Lauren620 It took quite awhile for me to get over the fact that it was his ex.  However, he was really close with her family and her sisters and it wasn't something he wanted to give up. She wasn't around a lot at first, but then she came around more and I got over it. Now she lives in Germany with her H and 2 kids and still makes special trips to see us when they are State side.  She's hilarious and sweet, so it was hard to hate her.  I'm probably a closer friend to her  than J is.

  • HOWEVER, both H and I are FB friends with people that I think we each wish the other weren't.  I think I feel this more than he does.  Neither of us says anything because we don't think it's worth it.  If I asked him to unfriend someone, he probably would so that says to me that I have no reason to be annoyed.

I don't know if that came out the way I wanted.

  • I'm only friends with one of them. We were together for a short time and when we broke up we became really close friends again. Also, since he's my grandfather's godson, I can't really avoid him. He's now married and his wife is pregnant. I think it bothers Anth sometimes, since my ex held a candle for me up until the day I got married, but he would never tell me to stop being friends with him.

My other two exes and I had horrible breakups and I don't ever want to see them again. Anth is not friends with any of his exes.

  • I'm friends with one ex on Facebook and we see one another socially because we have similar friends.  We aren't super close or anything but everyone is surprised because it was a pretty terrible relationship overall.  DH doesn't mind because he knows this guy is kind of a jerk.

Just on FB.  He lives too far away for us to run into each other.  MH is probably friendlier with a few of his exes though.  He was a bit of a manslut before we met.

  • I think I'm friendly with all of my exes although I'm not 100% positive they all feel the same way about me.  I only see a couple of them in social situations and still consider them friends.  I don't not consider the rest friends I just don't see them regularly or go out of my way to contact them.  I'd certain be cordial to them if I saw them out and about.  There is only one person I feel just doesn't like me anymore.  Unfortunately it was my longest relationship before I got married.  We dated for three years and were best friends.  I feel bad we couldn't salvage the friendship but understand why.

  • I am with one. My wife and I are both friends with him. (Yes, him.) We lost contact for like 10 years, but once we reconnected it was great. He's a great guy and I'm glad we're friends.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

I, um, don't have any exes.

I am, however, friends with DH's exes. He has good taste in women I guess (also they were like 15 when they were dating). :P

  • I am acquaintances with quite a few of them and am still good friends with two of them.
I actually have a close friendship with someone who happens to be an ex and his wife.  I just don't think of him as an ex at all.  My husband and I are godparents to their children.
I think I have three exes that I would never want to see again.

We each had one semi serious relationship before. Neither of us is friendly with our exes. We both knew each others exes. If his ex came within talking distance to me (or Alex) I would probably call the police (no joke). She was really unstable last time I saw her.
Unfortunately the police resonding could be my ex and than it would just be awkward.
  • Yes and we talk occasionally on FB or IG.

  • I'm not friends with any of my exes. One guy was really, really awful and the thought of being anywhere near him makes me twitch. Another guy was a great guy, and we dated for three years in high school. I'm friends with him on FB, and I always catch myself thinking that I'm really not missing out on anything. He's a lot different than he was back then.

MH isn't really friends with any of his exes either. We're friendly if we ever see them out and about, but that's about it.

  • I'm FB friends with a couple people that could be considered exes, but were college dates and were never serious.  The one ex that I was pretty serious about I'm not friends with, and we don't have any friends in common anymore. Husband only has one serious ex that I know of, and he's not friends with her, but they don't have friends in common either.  The chances of seeing them out and about are pretty slim.

    Me neither.

I have no idea if MH is connected to any of his exes on FB.  I'm thinking no...

  • Nope. Oh wait, I'm friends with my HS boyfriend but I have no H to get upset about it.

  • I'm not with any of my exes, but I was tight with one serious bf's sister and mom and am actually facebook friends with both of them.
DH is facebook friends with the girl he was in love with all through hs/college. She's still single and I was kind of meh about it but he's not real active on fb so I don't think it's a big deal.

Nearly all of them. I tend to date men with similar interests, so we remain friends for the same reasons.

I still hang out with my XH once in a while, and I keep in touch with his family. And last time I was back home, the only friend I met up with during my visit was a guy I dated for a while in college.

  • Nope.  I am friends with one on FB but that ended badly.  Another one that ended well I WAS friends with on FB but now we're not.  I think he defriended me because of his current GF, she seemed the type to be very bothered by us being FB friends.

  • I would be with one if his wife didn't get in the way.  I still love him -- not like that -- but he's still a very good friend.  I'm thrilled he's happy, I'm excited he has the life he wanted (and would not have gotten with me), and his children are adorable.  But his wife is possessive and I don't want to get him in trouble with her, so I stick to Facebook stalking and secondhand reports from mutual friends.

  • No. I don't have any contact with my exes, not on FB and not in real life.  In the very rare instance that I bump into one, I say hello and walk on. I really don't want anything to do with them - they can live their lives and I'll live mine.

My H and I grew up in different states, so I don't know any of his exes, nor does he know any of mine. *shrugs*

  • Nope.  FB friends with one or two, I think, but honestly I am annoyed by their updates more than anything.
