How do you feel about flowers in your house? What type do you prefer? (Inspired by a recent visit to my sister's house where she has a plethora of fake flowers for decor)

Re: CPW: Flowers

  • I always have fake flowers seasonally. But I also have some real plants, that I've been killing lately :(.  I also like when DH surprises me with flowers.

Sometimes I'll cut flowers from the garden, but I've been lazy lately.

  • I voted special snowflake because I'm just not sure. I always thought fake flowers fell under "tacky," but they kind of looked nice in my sister's guest bath.  :-/

  • None at all. I don't like fake and I'm afraid to have real ones because the kitties eat or destroy them. If my husband or friends get me flowers, I take them to my office.

  • I think a few fake arrangements aren't bad at all but only flowers. Fake plants are tacky.

No fakes for me.  I have plants, but the cats go to town on flowers like it's a frigging buffet, so I rarely have flowers.

  • If it were up to me, I'd have a beautiful arrangement of real flowers every week.  But, that'd get pretty pricey.  I don't mind fake flowers, but hate fake plants.  I have three small plants and one larger plant around the house and hope to get more when we move.

The only flowers we usually have around are my toss bouquet from our wedding (which we did with all fake flowers) sitting on the kitchen counter. Occasionally, DH buys me (real) flowers and we put those in a vase until they die.

Edit: It must not be my toss bouquet, because I think the girl who caught it kept it. Maybe it was my sister's bouquet? I don't think she took it home with her.

  • We have wooden roses in the dining room along with my wedding bouquet. In the living room we have two fake trees-that will be moving to the rec room at the new house, when I can get real flowers I do. I think I'm going to get a spider plant for the new house.

  • I have a fake orchid for decor on a living room shelf, and two small fake arrangements in vases, one next to the kitchen sink (it was from my bridal shower - centerpiece) and one in DDs bedroom for decor.

I love getting fresh flowers from DH but it's pretty rare so I settle for the fake. :)
