Things to do in Pittsburgh

Hi girls, we left Pittsburgh 6 years ago and I have unfortunately lost track of the must do's and the best places to eat.  We have friends that are coming out for a few days soon.  I believe they are staying in Greentree.  What would you recommend they do and where would you tell them to eat nowadays?

Thanks so much!

I think most of the old standards still apply: incline, Pirates game, strip district, tour--ducky or other, Primanti's.  Penn Brewery or Church Brew Works if they like beer.

Clipper cruise, Toonseum, Warhol museum, Falling Water, casino, zoo, Kennywood, Pamela's diner, Hofbrauhaus...

Prantl's burnt almond torte was recently named best cake by the Huffington Post.  They could check it out at the bakery location or in milkshake form at Burgatory.  Burgatory is very popular for burgers and milkshakes.  They almost always have a wait.  We use the NoWait app to get in line before we get there.  NoWait is working with a lot of the newer restaurants so if your friends get that app they can get some food ideas from it.

  • If they are staying in Greentree and want to go to Burgatory, definitely go to the one in Robinson not the Waterworks.

I second this.  I actually think the Robinson one is better than Waterworks based on how they cooked my burger.
  • Thank you so much!  I miss so many things out there, looks like there are a few new places to try too!

Are they into food experiences? Because there are a lot of new restaurants that are foodie people places. I have been to and would recommend: Cure, Pig & Chicken (might be Chicken & Pig), Meat & Potatoes, Smoke BBQ Tacaqueria (was in Homestead is moving to Lawerenceville--so May or may not be open yet in new locale), there are fun food trucks--we lover the PGH Taco Truck.
