July 3 5 PM: DH and I were getting ready to go see James Taylor and I felt like I "leaked" a little something. I called my sister and she said to go enjoy the concert. If it was my water breaking it would keep happening. I felt a little off the rest of the night but kept talking myself down so I could enjoy the show.

July 4 4AM: I woke up and felt some fluid dripping down my leg. I called my OB and she said to head to the hospital to get checked. They confirmed I was having consistent contractions but my water hadn't broken. They gave me the option to stay an check again in an hour but we decided to just go home and get some sleep.

4 PM: We had just gotten back from running errands and visiting with my ILs. I had to pee but before I got to the bathroom I felt more fluid running down my leg. A lot more than before. I honestly wasn't sure if I had just peed my pants so I went to the bathroom and emptied my bladder but I was still leaking. I was afraid to go back to the hospital and be "that crazy lady who keeps thinking her water broke." My contractions were immediately 5 minutes apart and getting stronger. I called the Dr. on call and he sent me back to the hospital. I was terrified because this was the only Dr. in the practice I didn't feel I "meshed" with. Oh well; nothing I could do.

5 PM: I was admitted and within an hour they confirmed my water broke and I was 3 cm dilated. My contractions were getting extremely painful and close together and I was all but begging for the epidural. They seemed in no rush to give it to me because I had just gotten there and thy thought they had plenty of time. They didn't even have all of my information in the system yet.

7:30 PM: Epidural was in and it made everything SO much better. All I felt was a bit of pressure with each contraction.

8 PM: DH made sure I was okay and decided it was a good time to go get the bags out of the car. Nurse came in to check me and laughed as she said, "You have no cervix left! I can't believe it!" She told me I might as well enjoy the epidural for a while and let the baby descend on her own. She said to let her know when I feel the urge to push. DH came back to the room and my parents had just arrived as well. I visited with them for a bit and kicked them out when I was ready to push.

9 PM: The nurse had me do a few practice pushes. She said I was doing so well that she could see the head. Time to call the doctor! I kept pushing while they were tracking him down (he's from Argentina and was apparently watching the World Cup. Like everyone else, he thought he had plenty of time before is be ready).

After 6 hours of labor and only an hour of pushing, and as fireworks were going off outside the window, Delilah Rose entered the world at 10:06 PM. She was 6 lbs 9 oz and 17.5 inches long. She's the most beautiful creature I've ever laid eyes on and DH and I are completely head over heels in love with her.
