Moms of girls

Trying to figure out what DD needs for back to school and I got stumped on socks/shoes.

DD prefers to wear skirts/dresses.  When it's colder we do tights/leggings underneath (usually with boots), and in the summer she just wears sandals or flip flops. What do you do for the in-between?

Socks like these: http://www.carters.com/carters-kid-kid-girl-accessories/V_24347.html?dwvar_V__24347_color=White#navID=header&start=9&cgid=carters-kid-kid-girl-accessories

With dress shoes?  Ballet flats?

  • Not a mom of girls, but just a heads up that she'll probably need a pair of sturdy sneakers for days when she has gym.  that's what they ask of students in our school anyway, I'm assuming it's the same most places.

Don't remind me!  I'm already anticipating wardrobe battles on gym days :-P  Luckily she has a pair of sketchers sneakers she will tolerate, so I think a new pair of those will do the trick.

    and she will have sneakers.

  • H wears her Keens with no socks, a pair of cheap Mary Jane flats with it without socks, converse with socks, sneakers with socks or boots. Though the boots are not allowed for running on the gym floor, so she usually carries sneakers on days that she wears them.

We have a varies of socks - short, tall, plain, decorated - and she dresses according to her whims. If I suggested that certain socks would look cute with a certain outfit, I'm sure she would not wear them together!

Dd had to wear sneakers every day not just gym days. So you might want to wait it check ahead of time. They claim they are active and doing some movement activities in the classroom and want sneakers.

If you can do other shoes, I always get dd some sort of Mary Jane type glitter shoe. Target and payless always have some. I got an adorable pair at Marshall's by Cythnia Rowley last year that she could only wear to school the first day and picture day!

As for socks most of dd's are princess socks from target $1 bin or just plain cotton socks.
