  • Elinor is on our short list and I loved Emma until it got so dang popular! I like the nn Fitz but Fitzwilliam is a bit much. The rest are NMS.

Emma - I LOVE Emma, but I have a good friend named Emma, so that wouldn't work.

Edmund - All I can think of is the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald

    Fitzwilliam - No

Walter - My uncle's name was Walter and I had not even an ounce of respect for him, so no.

  • *BR ahead*

I am a Jane Austen nut, and we picked Elinor as our daughter's fn and Elizabeth as her mn.  I also loooove Emma, but hate how popular it became.  Thanks 'Friends'

  • Another lover of Jane Austen here!

That being said, the only one of these names I really love is Emma, and like others have said, it's gotten way too frickin' popular (and sadly, it doesn't sound great with our last name).

Sally is cute, but NMS, and Elinor is a little bit too old fashioned for my preference.

Not a fan of any of the guys' names. Fitzwilliam as a fn comes across as pretentious (like, your family needs to have money to pull it off), and again, Edmund and Walter are a tad too old fashioned for me.

  • Elinor - I really like it, but spelled Eleanor.

Emma - Cute, but my cousin is Emily. So too similar.

Sally - No, all I can think of is Nightmare Before Christmas.

Edmund - No, I don't like the nn Ed or Eddie.

    Fitzwilliam - No.

Walter - No, NMS and too closely associated with Breaking Bad.

  • I love Emma. I love Eleanor, but I don't like the Elinor spelling. Sallly isn't for me.
Fitzwilliam is a hard and fast no. As is Edmund.

My grandpa's name was Walter, and I'd love to honor him...but uh, no. I can not name my child Walter.  His middle name was Henry, so we're using that instead. :)

@caseyandlizzie - Only because I feel like we had it on NOTD fairly recently, not because I don't love it ;)

I looove Elinor and Edmund (though I don't really like the NNs for it).  Fitzwilliam is a definite no, and the rest are okay but wouldn't use or NMS.
