Re: QOTD 7/17

  • A lot of people have no idea how much of the country I have seen. When I mentioned about H and I going on vacation to Colorado, a lot of people reacted in a way that suggested that I will have fun because I have never been there. It was actually the fourth time I was out in Colorado in particular. I was 3, 7, 17 and 26 during those 4 visits. I think I have seen at least 30 states and one outside country in my 26 years of life.

  • That I am into genealogical research.  I have most of the lines of my family traced back to the 1600's or so.

If anyone ever wants me to look something up for them, let me know.  I love it and I already pay for ancestry.com subscription so I don't mind.

That's awesome, @ramstein1027.  I tried tracing my history but there isn't much data available on the site :(

A lot of people that I've met in the last few years have no idea I was super into the emo trend when I was a teenager.  I consider myself well dressed and mature now so people don't believe I ever looked like that unless i show proof.

  • @christina if you have a name or something specific, I can give it another try.  I also use familysearch.org and, if you haven't tried in a while, ancestry has added a lot of Canadian records recently.  DH's family actually went to Canada before coming down to Vermont, so I'm somewhat familiar with them.

  • @ramstein1027 - my cousin does that, it's so much fun. She traced our dads side from when they came over in England, down to the ship and who paid their way over! We were some of the first 20k colonist. She has a page of all the different spellings our last name went through. It's so fascinating.

I play the tough strong woman, but I'm really sensitive. Only H and my parents see it. Or at least I try to minimize it. With them, I cry over everything. My feelings get hurt easy too. At work I act like I don't care, and I'm a bitch, but I do care.

  • @ramstein1027 that is really neat!  I tried to trace my family roots in college for a project, but I got frustrated.  I think it would be fairly easy on my mom's side because her parents gave us a lot of information.  My dad's parents told us like nothing about their backgrounds.  I don't even know where my father's mother's family came from.
  • Well @sjs1013 hit me up with some names if you'd like to know more :)  My favorite part of genealogy is finding out where people came from before they landed in America.

  • I used to drag race. I learned when I was 17. I only did it a few times a year but it was fun.

I also went to military school for my first year of college. I really don't know why. I thought it would be fun I guess.

  • There isn't much that's a secret about me.  I overshare everything.
  • I'm really insecure. Even though I play the tough guy.
