Hi again. Since I have no kids yet I was wondering if you can give me some ideas. My cousin who I have never met is coming to town for a week with his 4 yr old and I think 10 yr old. Yes not even sure of ages...never met them before and just found out he is living in Philly.

I figured going to a Pirate game would be fun. Kennywood? Mt. Washington? Gosh I'm clueless. I prob won't see them since I might be out of town. Any ideas??? I'm embarrassed because I live here and have no clue!

Science Center, Children's Museum, Carnegie Natural History Museum for the Dinosaurs, Idelwild or Kennywood, Just Ducky tour, Gateway Clipper, Incline to Mt. Washington teamed with the dancing fountain at Station Square.(If the 4 year old likes trains a frieght train goes by just about every day between 4:30 and 5pm.) the aviary is also good for kids.  The water steps on the North Shore or one of the spray parks.

Laurel Caverns -- you can mini golf in a cave-- or Ohiopyle coudl also be fun.  Primanti Brothers is a must unless they are really picky eaters.

    That should get you started.

  • That's an excellent list. There are also lots and lots of great playgrounds - Frick's blue slide playground and Anderson playground behind Phipps are my favorites. City parks pools, Carnegie Library in Oakland plus Schenley Plaza (dinosaur, merry go round), or a Pirates game.

  • The Zoo was missing from the above list :-)  Also, Sandcastle waterpark and Point State Park.

  • Some free options are spray parks and movies in the park.
