Emmy - your blog posts

Just wanted to chime in that I have enjoyed your blog posts lately (exc. for the tree falling) but haven't been able to comment.  I feel for you with Liam & the potty/church situation. Eamon is so all over the place lately - we could have an adorable child with us or one that screams when I walk away from him and we have to go to the cryroom.  On Sunday we were helping out with baptisms and John & I were on the altar & there were 6 babies being baptized so there were alot of people.  Caileigh was "watching" Eamon as best she could but at one point he walked to the opposite side of the church and screamed "mom!" and then stood there and waved at me & gave me a thumbs up like I hadn't seen him all day".  I almost died - I looked at John and he was losing it so I just hoped the priest was loud enough to drown it out.  That coupled with the annoucement of "I peed on the potty and pooped on the potty" was enough for me.
Gotta love 3 yr olds!

  • aww, thank you, I'm glad you've been enjoying them!  I wanted to crawl under something and hide during that church service!!
    :\">

Too funny about Eamon roaming around your church as well!  These kids....it's a good thing they're so cute!!  It is a fun age....but it is definitely keeping me on my toes!

  • I commend you both for taking the little guys to church.  I always leave Nolan at home with DH.  It would be nice to go as a family, but it stresses me out so much that I just can't take him yet.

On the potty side, Nolan at 2.5 is just starting to become interested in the potty.  Saturday night we went to the Olive Garden and DH took him to the bathroom with him to check it out.  Nolan did not want to try to go potty, but when he came back to the table he started clapping and sqealing and announced that "Daddy peed in the potty!"  All the tables around us started clapping too...

  • Amy, that is hilarious!  I mean, I'm sure your husband didn't think so at the time, but in hindsight :)

And don't feel too bad, I would have never taken Jake to church with me and had him sit through a service at age 3, it would have been a disaster.

  • Thanks.  Eamon is really the only one of my kids that can be challenging at times in church.  Most of the time its when I read b/c I have to go to the back to process in & walk up on the altar during the middle.  I do find that he is pretty good at early masses as long as I have some cheerios or something handy.  Close to noon like on Sunday = forget it.   I started early with my kids and now they know we go to church as a family (most of the time) and they do pretty well.  We also sit up front so its easier for them to see what is going on. I find if I am in the back, I get distracted more easily and they can barely see the altar so they are more likely to get distracted too.
