Rereads on GR

I know we've talked about this before, but tell me again: What do you do about re-reads on GR? Do you change the date and make a note in the review box? If you change the number of stars, do you note that? Or do you just not record it? Or just change all the info, eliminating the previous times you've read it?

How on earth do they not have multiple dates?

Re: Rereads on GR

  • I change the date and then make a note in my review (Re-read July 2014). I have shelves for each year as well, so I can go back and see books read in 2009, even if the date now says 2014.

  • p.s. Not having multiple dates totally stresses me out.

  • I change the date to my most recent reread and note the previous reread in the review box.  Same with any star changes.

  • Sometimes I make a notation in my comments that it is a reread.  Sometimes I don't put it in at all.  Just depends on my mood at the time.  I wish there was an option to record multiple dates.  I love to reread some of my favorites or previous books in a series before the next comes out.

  • I make a note in the comments that's is a re-read (with dates read), keeping the original reviews/rating and also add it to a shelf for that year. I wanted to be able to count re-reads towards my yearly total.

  • Change the date and make a note.  I also have a different folder for every year so I tag it with that folder when I re-do the review.

  • I have different shelves for the year too so I just tag the book in the year re-read when I'm finished. I like the previous suggestion of using a different edition that could eliminate a lot of confusion.

  • I date my first review in my summary and I will add a second review with the re-read date in the summary box.  I hate you can't keep multiple dates. Definitely a flaw in Goodreads.

Follow my SK blog as I reread the entire SK library (again!):
    http://www.skallthetime.blogspot.com/
  • I always add it as a different edition. That way it doesn't mess up the original date and the new edition counts toward this year's goal.

This is what I do, too.
  • I change dates and then write it all up in the review space

I just keep the original date, tag it in my current year's folder, and usually make a note in the review space like "re-read in June 2014."

This. I wish GR had a better way of recording rereads.

This is what I do, too.
I used to do this - but then on one of the books I re-read, the editions that I had used got consolidated and I didn't figure it out until WAY later. My read count for the year had mysteriously dropped by one book.

Seriously, this would turn me into a nutcase.
