We had a doe in the driveway this morning. Alan went to drive away and she didn't move. He approached her and she still didn't move so he knew she was hurt. We called animal control and they didn't open till 7 (it was 5:40) so we called the police. The police officer scared her and she went to get up but couldn't. She was worse than we thought. I left a message with animal control and monitored her from the window until he arrived. He got her and then had to bring her in to the yard and shot her. I have been crying since I found out what was going to happen. I feel horrible and pretty much want to die. He was very apologetic and was choked up himself saying it was the worst part of his job. He was very kind to her and petted her to calm her down before he had to euthanize her. There is now a patch on my lawn and I can't even begin to think about dealing with it.
