Mana...and I don't know who else...how much do you pay for family portraits? Like when the photographer meets you somewhere for an hour and then you get a CD of pictures..

The one I'm using now is $250 and includes the sitting fee and a disc of 25-30 touched up images. I get a discount on the newborn shoot. I think it's only $100 since we are doing the family one.

The other woman I was looking into was way more money. $150 session fee, 15-25 online gallery. $150 for the disc. Once I added the newborn session it was like $600. Maybe a bit less as a "discount".

I need the disc!

We just paid $350 for our's but it was for H's whole family - 6 adults and 2 toddlers. That included a 2 hour shoot and 3 discs. We got retouched copies of every picture I think there was something like 100 pictures on the CD. I don't know actually because I haven't even looked at the disc yet.

ETA: It was $350 total. Not for each family.

Okay. The girl I use gives me a discount (because she's more or less a family friend), but it's still $350. That's for an hour, and then a CD of 35-40 shots. Nolan is NOT happy. I think I'm going to shop around, but I feel bad cancelling her.

I don't really tell Jeff for this reason. I love having family pictures! It's the only time I'm in a picture, so what he doesn't know doesn't hurt him. It helps he doesn't look at our banking stuff too.

I don't think $350 is a lot, especially for 35-40 shots.

I asked a friend who is has recently started a photography business. She said it is $150 for unlimited time and any location. Includes couple.hundred photos on flash drive with no markings so you can do what you want with them.

I hear ya on feeling bad but I would at least call around to other places before settling with her. I know if H and I did just the three of us, our girl wouldn't charge $350. I think she only charged that because there were so many people to coordinate including two little boys with minds of their owns.

So I cancelled my girl, and scheduled with someone I went to high school. She's only 250, but she's fairly new, so I'm nervous.

I never really told Nolan how much it costs...but I told him this girl was cheaper.

Ooooo, you just reminded me that one of my former CWs went to high school with you. She does photography on the side and now I'm wondering if it's her!

Yes, W is her married name. Now that I'm thinking about it, I think you went to high school with her sister, R.O. (O is her married name).
