GTKY - Me & DH
DH and I have a very long history. We met when I was 19 and he was 27 at a friend's party. I immediately was smitten and he was, too. We dated for about a year, though pretty casually. The age difference was pretty intense then - I was in my second year of college and he was on his career track.
We broke up, started dating again, and played that game for about two years until we mutually agreed to part ways. We were both really bummed but it just wasn't working and we didn't want things to get ugly.
Two years went by without hearing from him, seeing him, etc. I moved and he moved and we both got on with our lives. One night I was out on a date with a guy that I had been casually seeing and a bunch of my friends and their boyfriends. We went to a random pub that I had never heard of before. About an hour after we got there, my best friend came up to me and said "I just saw Tom." I was pretty buzzed and didn't quite catch what she meant and then I looked up and saw him.
I proceeded to freak out in the bathroom for a bit and then decided (probably because I was drunk) that I was going to be "mature" and talk to him. We talked outside for an hour and then he left with his friends and I left with the people I came with. That night I ended things with the guy I was seeing and he broke it off with his girlfriend and DH and I went to breakfast the next day. We've been together ever since.
Tom is very "manly". He knows how to build things and fix things. He's very social and easy going, which is good because I am definitely Type A and tend to worry about things unnecessarily. He loves sports and he loves his family. My favorite thing about him is how funny he is. He cracks me up all the time and he is the only one who can reach me if I'm in a funk. He really is my best friend and I have a better time doing everything when I'm doing it with him. He will be an amazing father.
