  • I like Georgia, Dorothea, Edgar, and Vincent but won't use them. I might consider Edgar as a mn if we had a bunch of boys since it is a family name. The rest, while not bad, are nms.

250 Love Its 500 Comments Third Anniversary Name Dropper
One of those names is my name!

I like all of them enough, but I probably wouldn't use any of them. I really like Jackson, but that's where DH's family is from, so it would be sort of silly.

100 Comments 25 Love Its Name Dropper

Georgia (O'Keefe) - I like it, but I doubt DH would go for it.

    Louise (Bourgeois) - Very cute

Mary (Cassatt) - I like Meri (short for Merideth)--does that count?

    Dorothea (Lange) - NMS

    Boys:

    Ansel (Adams)- NMS

    Edgar (Degas) - NMS

Jackson (Pollock) - Was my favorite name--but I have a cousin who recently named their son that--so it's out.

    Vincent (Van Gogh) -NMS

  • Vincent will be our first son's name. It's Jim's (and his Dad's) middle name.  I hated it at first, but it has grown on me over the last 5 years.

I like Jackson, but it doesn't make it high enough to push out other boy names we love.

The girls names are not my style. No little girl should have to live with a name like Dorothy. Too big of a name for a little kid.

  • Georgia (O'Keefe) - NMS at all.
Louise (Bourgeois) - Kind of cute, but as a mn. Very likely wouldn't use it though.
Mary (Cassatt) - Too simple and popular for my taste.
Dorothea (Lange) - I really don't like this name, even though it would be a good mn inspiration since it's my grandma's name.

    Ansel (Adams)- NMS at all.
Edgar (Degas) - NMS at all. Edward is better.
Jackson (Pollock) - Not a bad name but NMS and too popular.
Vincent (Van Gogh) - Not a bad name, but SILs dog's name is Vinnie...So no. Lol
