Re: NOTD: The ol' swaparoo

  • I like Blake and Ryan for girls. I won't use Blake b/c I have a good (boy) friend with that name. I would consider Ryan if I didn't have other names I liked more.

I like Ashley, Courtney, and love Dana for boys, but won't use any of them. Ashley reminds me of Gone with the Wind :) I know too many girl Courtneys to use Courtney and we already have a male Dana in our family so that's out most likely.

  • I actually love the idea of naming a girl Ryan but DH hatesss the idea.

That's the only one I would use.

I like all of the girls' names.  My niece is a Ryan :)

The boys names are too feminine for me. I like a manly boy's name.

  • I like the girl names if they were boy names. Does that count? We always called my little brother Ryanne, because I wanted him to be a girl, not a boy. I used to think about naming a niece after him. Not so much anymore.

  • NO!

I hate using obvious boys' names for girls, and especially dislike any of these for girls.

I've heard of male Ashleys, Courtneys, and Danas, but never a Madison, which interestingly enough, is probably the only one I'd ever actually consider for a boy.

  • Blake - I like this name for a girl, I am not a big fan of it for a boy.

Chandler - Nope...too closely associated to Friends.

Ryan - I've always liked this name, but only for a boy.

Sawyer - I'm intrigued by this name and could see it on a girl or a boy. Most likely wouldn't use it though.

Boys names - I can only see these as girl names, probably because I know a lot of girls with these names. I like the names Madison and Ashley (for a girl), but likely wouldn't use them.

I think Blake is cute but normally I don't like when names cross genders so the rest are out for me.
