From your other post...do you know what level you like to keep your B12 at? Was it out of range at first or just low normal? What/how much B12 do you take?

My B12 was in range but towards the bottom (about 300 and range was 200-950). From what I read it's recommended to supplement even in normal low. I started taking some B12. There seems to be 2 different forms, and one was recommended as working better. I tried that and it upset my stomach so I stopped. I asked my dr about it and he didn't really think I needed to supplement. Which was surprising since he is all about supplements and vitamin levels.

My aunt has low B12 enough to get shots. I was thinking B12 before my results based on symptoms and family. I swear I take after my aunts on health issues!

  • Mine was at 250 when I was diagnosed, I got a few injections and now I'm taking supplements that my dr writes a prescription for. I really like for it to be at least 500, but 600 or more is even better.

When I had DS 8 months ago everything got all out of whack, and it's taken me a really long time to get my thyroid especially back under control. For a while I just chalked it up to having a newborn, but DH is actually the one that said I needed to get checked out because he didn't think that I should be so tired. From your other post it sounded like you should probably be on some thyroid meds too. If nothing else, I would push for a low dose to see what happens.

Thanks. I'm not much higher than you are and nobody seems to care. I have a new pcp maybe I will ask her. Oh I am on thyroid meds. I have been for 12 years. I'm pretty sure my thyroid is completely dead by now since I have autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimotos). Several years ago when I had one of my thyroid ultrasounds they said my thyroid looked like a woman in her 60s,

  • Oh wow, that's intense! I would definitely push on the B12, I think if you can get on it and it makes you feel better, then problem solved! If not, I don't think it will really hurt anything unless you take waaaay too much, but I suspect that would be difficult to do
