I need to buy a couple pairs of closed toe shoes.  Flats or kitten heels, I'm thinking.  I will also need to wear stockings if I wear dresses/skirts to work.  I hate stockings.

  • The person who made coffee this morning at work made it too weak, which means I'm going to have to either pay for real coffee at the coffee cart, or just drink twice as much.

  • Office coffee is hard when someone different makes it all the time.  It's either sludge or like drinking coffee water.

Trying to get things done while mh is home is impossible. All I want to do is pack and tidy the house while preparing for an interview tonight while listening to an audiobook. Now I have to go hold up posts for him. :-t
  • Good luck at your interview tonight @fabk‌

  • My grandma has dementia, and my mom now lives with her. Mom said last night grandma was in the kitchen for awhile after dinner and she went in to see if she was okay, and grandma had been trying to figure out which lightswitch turned off the light above the sink. This is the first time that something so simple has thrown her off, and it makes me so sad.

Hugs. My grandma has been declining for the past year and suffers from bouts of dementia, too. It is so, so tough.

  • Aww I'm sorry Lizzie.

I'm babysitting five kids, ages 4-10 today. They are my friend's kids and her cousin's kids. I was super excited, even though it's my only day off this week. But all they want to do is play video games or on their tablets. And it's raining here so I can't even force them outside.

I'm so bored. I keep pulling out board games and art supplies and they are not having it. I even suggested baking something. Ugh.

  • Thanks ladies! She's been declining for awhile now, but has never been thrown by something so simple before. It also scares the bejeezus out of me that she still drives. I'm just thankful that my mom is with her.

  • I haven't had much time to read in the last two weeks. I listen to audiobooks during work hours so I have had that, but I usually read a real book or ebook before I go to sleep at night and I just haven't had time or I've been too tired. Last night I actually got really cranky about it, but my poor DH just doesn't get it.

  • @caseyandlizzie‌ Not to be an alarmist, but we didn't take my grandfather's license away soon enough and he got into a bad car accident. It was really scary and we were lucky everyone was ok. He recently went to live in a nursing home because his dementia is so bad and my dad and grandmother could no longer care for him. It was so hard at first, but the nurses really have the tools, resources, and knowledge to care for him better than any of us could. He declined rapidly and it's just so heartbreaking to watch.

  • @caseyandlizzie **hugs** I'm so sorry to hear this. My grandmother is in a similar situation and it breaks my heart. The thing that did it for me was when she didn't remember my BIL. There was always a family joke about how cute my grandma thought my BIL was at my wedding, and every time she saw MH she would always ask about him and comment about how cute he was. A few months ago we told her he had a baby, and she didn't remember who he was. It broke my heart.  :(

@caseyandlizzie So many hugs!  My grandma is at the end stage of Alzheimer's right now and it's so so hard.  The transition part when they still remember some things and not others was so tough.  I would be very concerned about her driving.  That's scary.  Lots of T&Ps for your family.

And now that trip is a week and a half away.

  • I have two weeks of vacation and have volunteered to spend a week of it helping my sister in law move.  I'll fly to Little Rock, she'll pick me up and we'll drive eleven hours to the Chicago area, and then spend the next four days moving them into their new house.  My brother will be around, but it'll be mostly me and Elisabeth and it'll just be the two of us, with George (3) and Gemma (1) on the 11 hour drive.  And Elisabeth is pregnant with twins.  I'm a glutton for punishment, apparently.

It would be awesome-er if I were going to actually see Chicago.  Although if you and your sweet girl are interested in a play date, I might could arrange for it.  I'm not sure how much car access I'll have, but I'd love to see you!

I got a new computer today.  It's small and cute, and it's one of those ones that turns into a tablet and has a touch screen.  And it's red, which I wasn't planning on but am kind of stoked because it looks all fancy shmancy.
