These are questions for people with E-Readers.
- First of all, which E-Reader do you have?
- Do you like your E-Reader? Pro/Cons
- Are you thinking of upgrading soon?
Re: E-Readers
I have the original B&N Nook.
I like it. Light weight, small enough to carry around, but not so small that it's difficult to carry. The lack of a backlight is a good and bad thing. When I'm laying in bed at night, I wish for it. When I'm on the train or out in the light, it doesn't hurt my eyes.
I'm considering the fact that it's probably time to upgrade. I'm thinking about a Nook Glowlight because I do like the e-ink. If I switched to the Kindle, I'd lose my library, but I have the Amazon credit card (rewards) and prime. Ugh.
my read shelf:
Wes: 10/8/2012
Books read in 2011: 111
Books read in 2012: 100
my read shelf:
2. I love it and use it all the time.
3. Not unless it breaks

2. I love it. LOVE IT. I love having hundreds of books at my fingertips. Pros: light weight, easy to carry, cheap books, syncs with app on my phone and potentially with audible (haven't tried). It made reading so easy this first year with Alex, book reading is nearly impossible.
Cons: no library options in Canada. Whomp whomp. Also I use the app on my phone more at night now because of the light.
3. Not anytime soon. There is nothing wrong with my kindle. If it aint broke don't fix it.
my read shelf:
This would make me so sad. I love roaming through B&N
2. I like both of them. I like being able to go online aside from just reading. I actually had the Kindle app on my Nook so that increased what I could read. And I downloaded Overdrive to both so I can read my library books too. I'd say the one con is that the brightness doesn't auto adjust (like my iPhone) when I go from shade to light. And reading in bright sun can just be hard in general on both.
3. Not upgrading any time soon.
My Profile
2) I ADORE it! It is perfect for reading in all situations (bright sunlight to bedtime). Also I tend to curl up in weird positions when I read and not having to flip the side of the book around is a huge plus. Only con is like someone else mentioned normally I have to wait longer for an ebook from the library than if I wanted a physical book so that would be a con no matter the reader.
3) Nope, I just got my paperwhite about 2 months ago and I'm hoping it lasts a VERY long time!
I loooooooooooove them. LOVE. The Touch goes with me everywhere.
I won't upgrade anytime in the near future because these fit my needs just fine but after owning a Kindle for the last 3 years and building my library, I'm Kindle for lyfe so when either or both of them die, they're getting replaced with new Kindles.
my read shelf:
I like it but find it can be difficult to read outside after awhile.
I would like to get a Nook Glowlight. I got my NookColor when they first came out and thought I would use the "tablet" part of it more than I do. Since I now have an iPhone, I don't use the other features on it at all. I also chose it because when I got it, Kindle books weren't available through the library. I would like a Kindle but don't want to lose all my books, so when I replace it, it'll be with a Nook Glowlight.
The paperwhite is amazing. I was worried about the light as well but it is very adjustable. Meaning that when you are in "low light situations" ie at night, you can have the light turned down super low. I definitely feel a difference on my eyes when I'm reading on the kindle vs my computer. Also because of the way the screen is made glare isn't an issue like it is with tablets, computers etc....
It's totally worth it
The keyboard version is perfectly fine. However, the paperwhite has the built in backlight which is FAB. It's smaller, and I like the touch controls over the buttons.
