Divergent DVD/Bluray *spoilers*
Anyone who didn't see the movie in theaters care to discuss?
I viewed Divergent for the first time last night on DVD. It was better than I expected. I thought they stayed pretty close to the source material. The dilapidated Chicago scenery was, I thought, excellent. The zipline and capture the flag scenes were exciting. I thought they conveyed the emotion behind the choosing ceremony and Tris' arrival at Dauntless very well. I thought they missed the emotion behind the entire first stage training - there was more of a ruthless desperation in the book. I enjoyed Kate Winslet's performance, as well as Ashley Judd's, but I thought that the young people gave flat performances. I felt no chemistry between Tris and Four. Eric wasn't quite greasy enough. Peter wasn't malicious enough. Christina wasn't sassy enough. Caleb wasn't calculating enough.
All in all, I was entertained, which is really all I ask for anymore. I would watch the sequel.
