NBR - Robin Williams

Man, anyone reeling from this like I am? Celebrity deaths don't usually affect me, but this hurts. He struggled so long with bipolar disorder. His highs were great and his lows were severe. It's terrible that the thing that brought him fame and success is also the thing that killed him. It is a sad day.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

Re: NBR - Robin Williams

  • I actually shed tears over this. I am really sad about it, and I think it's terrible that he suffered the way he did.

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • Everything everyone else said.  For some reason losing him and Phillip Seymore Hoffman in the same year feels so ultimately unfair.

Mh and I were pretty upset when we heard. I hope he finds some peace.
  • This has me heartbroken. He is one of my favorite actors. I will miss him tremendously

  • Very sad!  I was shocked to hear this.

  • I was so shocked to hear about this. So sad.  :(

  • I think what's hitting us so hard is how profound an impact he had on our childhoods. Name a favorite movie growing up. Chances are he was in it. He defined our sense of humor and gave us some of our biggest laughs.

The world is not the same without him in it and everyone's hearts are heavy tonight.

What did me was The Academy posting this picture with the caption, "Genie, you're free."

  • Also, as sad as I am, I can't say that I'm shocked. Many, many times, the biggest performers and personalities are hiding the biggest hurts. :(

  • My heart is heavy still with the news. I agree that losing him and Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the same year is incredibly unfair. To me it is so heartbreaking that he struggled the way he did, and was unable to get help. Mental illnesses are so real, and I pray that soon we can do more to help it.
  • It is so ironic that some of the funniest people tend to be the most unhappy people.  I would love to say that his death came as a shock, but sadly, it didn't.  It is a such a gigantic shame though.    He was an amazing talent and it is sad that he couldn't enjoy it.

Really??  The shock is a huge part of the devastation for me. I never expect anyone to commit suicide kwim? It's just so heartbreaking and sad.

  • This got me:

    Written by Zelda Williams.

"My family has always been private about our time spent together. It was our way of keeping one thing that was ours, with a man we shared with an entire world. But now that’s gone, and I feel stripped bare. My last day with him was his birthday, and I will be forever grateful that my brothers and I got to spend that time alone with him, sharing gifts and laughter. He was always warm, even in his darkest moments. While I’ll never, ever understand how he could be loved so deeply and not find it in his heart to stay, there’s minor comfort in knowing our grief and loss, in some small way, is shared with millions. It doesn’t help the pain, but at least it’s a burden countless others now know we carry, and so many have offered to help lighten the load. Thank you for that.
To those he touched who are sending kind words, know that one of his favorite things in the world was to make you all laugh. As for those who are sending negativity, know that some small, giggling part of him is sending a flock of pigeons to your house to poop on your car. Right after you’ve had it washed. After all, he loved to laugh too…
Dad was, is and always will be one of the kindest, most generous, gentlest souls I’ve ever known, and while there are few things I know for certain right now, one of them is that not just my world, but the entire world is forever a little darker, less colorful and less full of laughter in his absence. We’ll just have to work twice as hard to fill it back up again."
