RIP Robin Williams

This makes me so sad. Such a great artist and man.

  • So very sad. Just goes to show how depression affects everyone and even the people who seem to be the happiest can be affected. I hope his soul finds peace.
  • So very sad. My brother and I loved watching Mrs. Doubtfire when we were kids.

  • XP from my comments in NBC

I think what's hitting us so hard is how profound an impact he had on our childhoods. Name a favorite movie growing up. Chances are he was in it. He defined our sense of humor and gave us some of our biggest laughs.

The world is not the same without him in it and everyone's hearts are heavy tonight.

What did me was The Academy posting this picture with the caption, "Genie, you're free."

Also, as sad as I am, I can't say that I'm shocked. Many, many times, the biggest performers and personalities are hiding the biggest hurts. :(

  • I was in disbelief when DH first showed me all the thread titles on his forum. I thought it must be a joke or something. But then there were news sites reporting it showing up on my FB feed. I avoided it the rest of the night, because it made me so incredibly sad.

And then I saw this post this morning, and then a little pic collage someone else put together of him from all the best childhood movies he was in, and I'm pretty much losing it. So, so sad!
:(( RIP Robin Williams. You're free.

  • My heart hurts. Because he was in pain, and because it's such a loss to the world.

I feel like gallows humor is what he would appreciate, though, so DH and I are watching Death to Smoochy tonight. My favorite of his films, and one of my favorite movies of all time.
