When the book went to Epilogue I freaked out. I thought for sure that the series ended and I hadn't realized this was the last one. I was WTFing all over the room grabbing my iPad to do some googling. J was on alert thinking I'd lost my damn mind. Thank goodness I was wrong. I'm not ready for Kate and Curran to be done. They need more time!

I love Desandra. LOVE her. I need to meet Andrea and Raphael's baby. I need more Ascanio. And Derek needs a spinoff. If Ilona Andrews doesn't create a crap ton more books set in this world it will crush me.

So, what did you think of Roland? How can Curran leave the pack for good? I should have known it wasn't over with the amount of loose ends.

 SO MANY THOUGHTS.

  • Actually, I really enjoy Roland as an antagonist. I love that he has a sense of humor.

One major complaint about this book was Saemon. Where the hell was he??? He's usually a huge source of comic relief.

Oh man, I still love Derek. Ascanio is growing on me. I enjoy his interactions with Derek.

Curran. Dude. LOVE. When he rescued Kate? Oh my god. I loved that part.

I have more thoughts but I'll have to finish up later.

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I just finished and had to go back to find this post.  :)

In the beginning of the ebook, Ilona Andrews says, "It reads like the final book in the series, but it's not" and that she is currently under contract for 3 more books.  I'm glad I saw that before I read it or I would have been panicking too!

    Love, love, love Curran!

I love Derek and want to hear more about him.  I'm curious to see where their life leads outside the Pack, but I'm guessing they'll get pulled back in at some point.  I wasn't a huge fan of these books when I started them, but they've grown on me as the series has progressed!

  • I think they'll have to get pulled back into the pack.  Or, maybe it'll become to duo without the tethers of the pack?  They can go fight Roland alone with the occasional pack support?  It would be really strange to not have Curran go back to the pack, but I don't know that they'll ever accept Kate.

Roland is going to be so much fun.  I can't wait to see what happens there.

  • Ugh, you guys.  I really didn't love it.  From the point where Curran rescues her to the end, I was totally into it - but that was over 2/3 of the way through the book!  Curran was completely MIA for way too much of this book.  Along with Saimhan, Julie, Andrea (again, until the end), Raphael, Mahon, and even Derek was kind of in the background. And Grendel! haha

I got super bored with so many parts up until the rescue.  Long descriptions of things I didn't care about, the entire beginning (even after Barabas's stupid journal thing) was just recap after recap.

And I'm still not sure how I feel about the end.  When Kate takes Atlanta it was cool, but then Roland walks in and he's like well that was cute, but now here's what you're going to do, and they just do it.  Which, I don't mind because if I had to read any more about "Pack politics" I was going to throw the book, but it felt way too easy.

Maybe I was just spoiled by the 6th book, which I LOVED, or I'm still just not recovered from my Clockwork Princess fog, but I was unimpressed. :(
