Newborn Photographer?

Hi, I'm due at the end of December and just started looking at photographers for newborn photos. I can't believe the prices of most of them, especially when a lot of the packages don't even include rights to the photo files - which is something we're really interested in. Does anyone have any suggestions?

We used Caitlin Thomas Photography www.caitlintphotography.com for our newborn photos. We purchased the digital package, which gave us all of the images on a CD for us to print. I think the session fee + the CD was a total of $200 or $250? This was several years ago, so her pricing might have changed, but I think that is pretty comparable to a lot of other professional photographers.

last time we used ginger hites/frames of infinity. we had a first year package. she has since changed her prices and she doesn't (and didn't) include a disk of images. this time we will be using abby jackson. she's a SAHM, so she may be a bit more "green" to photography. we wanted another first year package. she doesn't have one, but we worked something out. i think her sessions regularly cost $200-250 and include a disk with images.

We used Katie Ewing, the session plus the rights to the images was a bit more, I want to say about $350, but she did a super job and we'll be using her for DS's 1 year photos for sure

We used Kristen Becket Photography, the session was $125 and the CD was $100 with rights. Another suggestion is Amy Wilson Photography.

If you are giving birth at Magee they do some great pictures and allow you to have the cd as well - www.bellababyphotography - my sister in law just had her girl's done & they turned out really well

I used Mary Beth Miller for my last newborn session. I think her prices have gone up since we used her for newborn photos 3 years ago. We got digital rights to all photos.

Milk & Honey children's photos by Jenni Grace also does a great job with newborn/baby photos.

My sister used Tiny Bean Photography in May. Her sitting fee is $425 and it includes edited photos and the rights. If you want her to travel, it is more (my sister went to her studio in Polish Hill) This was our shower gift but she picked the photographer.
