Labor Day weekend/Pittsburgh guests

We have friends of ours coming in to visit Labor Day weekend. I'm used to our guests being pittsburgh transplants one way or another, so this is the first time I have pittsburgh newbies to show around. We'll have Logan and they have a 3 year old. Anyone have any fun ideas to show off the city?

So far I've thought:
Zoo
Children's museum
Ducky tour
Gateway clipper
Rib Fest
Incline/mt Washington
Pirate game

What am I missing? Obviously we won't have time for everything, but I want to give them options.

Oh, and I'm not opposed to an adults night, but my friend and I are both pregnant.

  • Looks like you have a good list so far!  if you're looking for something ON labor day, the kids could do the kids kickoff run at Heinz Field.  I can't remember if Logan did it last year (or if you ran the 5k?) but Jake and Liam did it and it was adorable, they had a blast!  it's $10 per kid, and they make a big deal of lining them up and having them make it across the field...they get a little ribbon and a tshirt :)  it could be cool since your friends aren't from pittsburgh, it would give them a chance to see inside the stadium.

Kennywood might be a fun option for the littles.  I know you can't ride...but funnel cakes never disappoint!

  • Looks like you have a pretty good list.  Not sure what area of the city you live in, but Idlewild would be fun for the kids

  • On Saturday afternoon Pitt is playing a home football game that you could combine with Ribfest :)
