  I don't have any recent experience, but I did it while I was a kid.  If  I remember correctly we had weekly meetings where we did crafts and worked on badges.  We also usually had monthly outings where we'd explore our community.  Things like touring the police station, community improvement projects (planting flowers) or visiting nursing homes.  I also remember singing a lot of songs and having speakers (topics were usually future/career related or positive female role models) .
  
  A few times we had overnight camping trips and during the summer there was a week of day camp.

  Caileigh was a brownie last year - I assume she will do it again if her friends do!  She wasn't a daisy.  They had bi-monthly meetings, worked on crafts & badges.  Money they raised they did a service project (I think or were supposed to) and went on the ducky tour at the end of the year.  A couple of the kids & moms went camping 2 weekends ago at Camp Redwing.  Its really all what you & the troop leaders make of it. Caileigh liked going to the meetings but didn't have a ton of drive to get the badges on her own.  And I didn't have alot of extra time to do them either.   Plus, I never got around to ironing on half of them to her vest!  If your leaders are really involved then they can accomplish alot.  I was the cookie mom this year which was some work but nice to get involved.
