Do you go to your local county fair?

Re: QOTD 8/25

  • I used to go to the fair closest to where I lived because it was just down the street from my high school and they used to dismiss us early on opening day.  But then the fair moved to the outskirts of town and sucked.

I've been told the fair where I live now is legendary so I'm hoping to go this year.  It's on Thanksgiving weekend which is weird.

    Good Story @ramstein1027

  • Yup, we usually hit up the fair.  We didn't do the county one this year, but the one by my parents house since that was the one going when we had the kids.  Like @ramstein1027 said, very peopleofwalmart.com.  Sweet mullets and 16 year olds more pregnant than me.   We also enjoy watching the tractor and truck pulls.  But we also have a dragway that does pull most weekends, if not there's mudboggling etc.  YEEHAW!

  • I haven't been to a fair since I was a kid. I remember going on some very questionably safe rides, haha!

  • oh, I want to add that the fair I used to go to is older than Canada!

  • Ours is really really lame. Where I grew up they had an awesome one and we went every year.

  • We've been to it once and it was pretty lame so we haven't been back since.  There's a bigger, better one in Dallas but it's at the same time as the UT v OU game which brings a lot of drunk stupid college kids to it.  So, we don't ever go to that one either.

  • We didn't have one where I grew up. I've been to a few locally in the years I've lived here. They are really fun places to people watch.

  • I go every year!
  • Nope! We did go to the Cornbread Festival earlier this year and they had a fair set up. I don't remember the last time I went to a proper fair.

  • I can honestly say that even with moving to a different county, I have yet to go to a county fair.

Only yearly thing that I really attend is a Labor Day festival that is held by one of the neighborhoods nearby where H grew up. They have all sorts of food, games, art vendors and a big fireworks display the one night. Safe to say, I was excited to see that my next paycheck fell the weekend it's taking place.

  • Growing up we did not have any big county fairs, only small ones set up in larking lots, we did go to those as teenagers. Whe. I came up state for college I started going to the bigger fairs around my area. The big one I love is now too far to travel too since we bought our house - three hours of travel time there and back is a little much for some funnel cake LOL!
