October Book Club Ideas

Hi there. I haven't been around for awhile because life happened but I was hoping you all could help me with some suggestions for a good book for my IRL book club to read in October. Something supernatural or dark or a mystery perhaps. Our meetings are the last week of the month so it will be close to Halloween! We try to keep our books around 300 pages but besides that we're open to anything.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion! It sounds good!
  • I just finished Bird Box by Josh Malerman - it's horror/post-apocalyptic and it was wonderfully creepy and suspenseful.

  • How about a Gillian Flynn book?  I would say they are all pretty dark.  If most of your book club hasn't read Gone Girl it would be a great time to get it in because the movie comes out in October too.

We read Gone Girl last October. What did you think of Dark Places or Sharp Objects? According to Goodreads only one girl has read Dark Places and no one has read Sharp Objects so they're definitely in the running. Thank you.

Whoa, I'm totally creeped out by the synopsis on Goodreads... in the best kind of way! Thanks! Great suggestion!

I am pretty sure I am in the minority, but I really, really liked Sharp Objects and didn't care much for Dark Places.  I believe most posters around here preferred Dark Places and it is also being made into a movie (at least I think it is).
