Last Week of Summer

Good Morning Pretty Ladies! I know technically it's not the last week but it is in my book. Summer is from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I can't believe it's already over. SIL and me were discussing Thanksgiving and Christmas plans. Yuck! Anyhoo, how was everyone's weekend?

Ours was good. The concert was amazing! Zac Brown Band is very talented and I would go see them again. Getting out of the parking lot took over an hour so that part blew. I got to see my parents which is always nice. We will see them the next three weekends to since we have family stuff this weekend and we are flying out of buffalo when we go to Portland.

Re: Last Week of Summer

  • Hola.

It seems everywhere around here thinks summer ends at labor day. All the pools close no matter how hot it is. It's kind of weird to me being from Texas.

I am glad you enjoyed the concert. I love ZBB and I have a cousin who has cowritten a song for them (sweet Annie) so it is extra neat.

We are driving through Buffalo on Saturday degrea. Obviously made me think of you. We were going to stay there sat night but I think we are driving to Toronto after all.

We had a pretty good weekend. What we saw of Cleveland was fun but that is definitely not our favorite park. Both the stadium itself and the fans left something to be desired. I need a day at home so bad. I told DH that the first weekend of Sept best be left completely open or his wife might go crazy.

  • I have never been to Cleveland. Sorry it wasn't your favorite park. I find that fans can wreck anything. Are you going to a Blue Jays game? Hence Toronto. I have never been there either. I am jealous of this ball park thing. If you haven't ever seen it I would suggest a stop at Niagara Falls. And if you do end up stopping in Buffalo and want wings go to Duffs or Anchor Bar. Those are the two main ones everyone recommends. Though most places have good wings. Either enjoy your trip. Toronto is a great city with so much to do.

Sweet Annie is one of my favorite songs. That's so cool!

I know what you mean about a weeks at home. Though that's not happening till sept. 20. My house will be a wreck by than so I will spend the whole weekend cleaning and doing laundry, boo. Being an adult sucks!

  • We still very much enjoyed the game but the fans booed everything. Seriously everything. And then every time we walked back into the stands some fans booed us. Umm ok? I am all for a little joking and rivalry but it was kind of silly.

Yep we are going to Toronto to catch a game and definitely stopping at Niagra on the way. I wish we would have more time there but it is what it is. I will keep the wings in mind. We have thought about stopping in for some I am just not sure about timing anymore.

I here ya about cleaning. That is probably how that weekend is going to be for me too. One reason I asked for the whole weekend open so I get at least some reading/ sewing /sanity time.

  • Hello!
My weekend was boring, I worked and did school work all weekend. That will basically be my life the next three months.
Today was my first day of clinical! We didn't do anything though, just hospital orientation and it was boring. We did get done early, though! We were supposed to be there until 4 and ended up leaving about 1:45 so that's kind of nice. I have some down time (aka homework time) before I go into work now.

Glad you enjoyed the concert, Degrea!! And I agree, being an adult totally sucks. I spent my study breaks cleaning the house this weekend. lame!

Aggie that so cool you know someone who co-wrote that song! I'm jealous of your trip to Toronto, I've always wanted to go! I've been to Niagra Falls and it's awesome!

  • Aggies coming to Canada??

    I've missed so much!

Niagara Falls is beautiful. I hear our side is best.

Also I am like 2 hours from Toronto! Boo

I must get caught up on the happenings around here...
  • The Canadian side or Horseshoe falls is definitely prettier. Canada also has more stuff to do on their side. But the American side has the better view of the Canadian Falls. Either side is great! Cave of Winds I always recommend if you have time. I need to visit the falls again. It's been awhile! Maybe this winter as I love to see them than. The ice is so pretty.

Have fun at the game Aggie. Go away team! Drive safe! O and plan some extra time to cross the boarder as it is a holiday weekend in both countries.

Welcome back Echo! Hope you vacation was relaxing!

Glad class got out early so you got some down time.

haha I think we are going to the canadian side? but I am really not sure as DH is the trip planner.

ECHO ( I put degrea at first where has my brain gone today lol!)  I didn't even think about you being close.  All my IRL Canadian friends live closer to the west coast so I automatically put you too far away. oops! although 2hrs is still pretty far especially with the 2 little ones!

We will be rooting for the home team Deagrea ;) sorry.... or not :P

    Echo how was your vacation?

  • Lol Aggie! I didn't even know that Tornoto was playing the Yankees this weekend. I just knew that we need Tornoto to lose. Haha! Either way I hoe you catch a good game. Yanks aren't a playoff team this year. It's amazing that we have a chance to make them.

  • I took my first X-ray today!!!!
It was of our positioning doll, Pixie, but she simulates a real person with bones and organs and everything so it was pretty awesome! I got to set the x-ray tube and put my cassette in and then make the exposure and process the cassette and it was awesome! I wish I had gotten to do more than one!

Echo how was your trip?? Did you see that hitch hiking robot anywhere along your way?

  • Wohoo JLQ!!

How are you feeling Aggie? Pregnancy treating you well?

I got nothing today. Work, Macys, dinner, home, laundry and cooking. Hopefully TV time somewhere in there. Hope you ladies have a lovely day!

  • I am doing pretty great these days. Never have had absolutely terrible symptoms but having more energy is nice.

My crazy husband almost got himself in deep doo doo and is working hard to recover. At this point it is kind of amusing.

Our house is a disaster. So dh calls on his way to work (as I am walking out the door) to inform me we may have a guest tonight. Ummm what? Turns out it is his brother who is in college (thank goodness otherwise Colin would be taking vacation today to clean our house) who is flying in today to go to the game with him tomorrow and flying out at 6:45 am on Saturday... The day we leave for Toronto.

I keep getting update texts from DH on what he plans to do so none of it is my problem. It's kind of funny... Now.

  • Lol! Silly H! I love when mine pulls crap like that. Like I come out to the living room on Sat. and my FIL is sitting there watching TV. Me in my PJ's looking fine. Ummmm hello... Brian ran to the store. Okay! I am going back to bed. I always tell him if your father is coming over to help you with something you should at least tell me so I can be dressed and have the house some what presentable. Silly H they just don't think!

  • HEY!

Vacation was good once we got there. DS2 decided to grow 4 teeth on the 4 day drive down so he screamed a lot of it.That was rough. We have a lot of family we were visiting which was great. My moms mom is from PEI. She didnt come with us as she couldnt make the trip. She has alzheimers which has been hard on my mom. Seeing my grandmas sisters who are totally with it was hard for my mom. Reminded all of us of the Grandma we had. What a hard disease.

My bil and sil actually live in toronto too and my other bil is going ot visit them this weekend. I wouldnt be surprised if the were at the game.  Being up here in Canada feels lonely. I need more irl friends! With kids too.....its hard.
  • Jason told me once that a friend of his was coming to spend the night the day before he was to come. I was like uh, no. This house is a disaster so unless you plan to spend the entire day cleaning it no one is staying here. Crazy men! They just don't think.

Echo - Alzheimers totally sucks!! There's just no other words for it. I deal with it all the time with my job and it's so sad to see family members seeing their parents not remember things or have totally different moods than they normally do. It's all very sad.

  • jlq its been hard.  My grandpa was an alcoholic and verbally abusive for most of their marriage. 4 years ago she kicked him out of  the house when the alzheimers started happening. He lived with my parents and my grandma lived alone. He passed away that year and it has all been downhill since then (even though it was before too). My moms sisters have accused her of taking advantage of my grandma even though my mom had been the only one taking care of her and my grandpa for so long. My aunts went psychotic and in a really immature move my one aunt deleted me and my sisters from facebook for her and my uncle. Its really dumb.  And sad because my mom has to now work with her two sisters in making sure her mom gets the best care possible and theyre not always useful.

We went to visit my grandma on our way home from vacation and when we first arrived she knew dominics name. I tried very hard to use his full name the whole time (as opposed to his numerous nicknames - domo, domino, dominicky) and when we were about to leave she was like i forget this ones name. Its so sad. We think my grandmas one sister (who my mom and cousin are the power of attorney for) is in the early stages of alzheimers now too. So my mom has to have that conversation with her.

    Pray for my family?!
  • I will definitely pray for your family, Echo!! It's so hard dealing with Alzheimer's, and it doesn't just affect the family member who has it, it affects everyone! I worked with a woman once whose family members all had a different view on how she should be cared for, which made it very hard to actually care for it. Everyone thinks they know what its best, and really no one does because there just is no best. What is best one day might be totally wrong the next. It's sad how the disease can rip families apart.
I'm glad you were able to visit your grandma! That probably made her day, even if at the end she couldn't remember Dominics name. She probably still knew who he was and I bet she was just thrilled with the visit.

  • Hi Ladies! I have all day meetings today but I got a break so I thought I would say hi. Glad to hear vacation was a success. I agree that disease is particularly tough, especially on the families. My grandpa has dementia (spelling) and it is simular but not the same. He has no idea who I am but that's okay. It would be tougher if we were ever actually close but that is not the case. Either way I know how you feel Echo. And JLQ is right I am sure that visit made her day. TP for you and your family.
It always amazing me to how families can be completely destroyed over things like this. Or deaths/wills, what to do with grandmas red lamp, etc. I have watched my H family and even mine struggle with this. I hope that when it's my turn to deal with this type stuff that me and my sister manage to do it with out killing each other and that we are still friends after it. Makes us stronger instead of tearing you apart.
Okay off soap box. You ladies have a great day. Tomorrow is Friday and the start of a long but exhausting weekend. Two concerts (Lady A and Jason Aldean), two fairs (NYS and my home town), three cities (Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse) and partridge in a pear tree. Hahaha! I told myself next summer will be less busy. Lol! O and my sister is going dress hunting this weekend so I might have opitions to look at Tuesday. Exciting!

  • Your weekend plans are exhausting me!!

I think our only plan is dinner/drinks with friends Sunday night. We might possibly go to a splash pad with other friends one day too.
  • It is crazy to see how it has torn my moms family apart. I think when my grandpa died it caused a lot of them to have some level of PTSD type thing. Dh who works in mental health says it's completely possible. They're all grieving the loss of their dad who they loved and hated but no one is seeking help. I think my mom really needs to because he died in our house. My two sisters did CPR on him. So much to deal with.
  • I hope your family gets the help they need. My grandfather was also abusive and not a very nice man. I am not sure how the family or even I will feel when he passes. We shall see!

  • Today is like my first real day of clinical where I'm actually going to be doing stuff.  :-S
I'm nervous! And I'm on my period which just makes this all worse because my uniform pants are khaki colored. Uggh! And they're so thin they're practically see through. I'll be that girl going to the bathroom every half hour to check.

Degrea that's a crazy weekend you have planned!!!

Tonight we're going to the Crosscutters game and then we have no plans for Saturday or Sunday, I work and need to study so that kind of kills those days. Monday DH's mom&stepdad are coming over and we're going to the last Crosscutters game of the season with them. Should be fun.

  • TGIF and TGFN (Thank God for Naps!!)

These kids are something else today! I told dh to pick up wine on his way home from work! I really need it!

But in my exciting world ds1 went all day yesterday with no accidents - a whole day going on the toilet! Yeah!!!! Im excited!! I am enjoying doing less cloth diaper laundry!!

  • Hi friends.

Echo your family is in my prayers. Dementia is so incredibly difficult to deal with emotionally and physically. Not to mention everything else your extended family is throwing at you.

Good luck Jlq! I totally double up on period days especially the first day. Tampon and pad that way I have a warning before it's a mess.

So no trip for us this weekend after all. I broke down on the phone with dh this morning. I am just spent. I have been running for weeks without any down time and for an introvert like me that just doesn't work. I woke up ready to cry because I had to go to work. Ugh I hate that. But staying home is such a relief. I would have fun this weekend but next week I would cry every day I know it. And today I am Dr death 7 euthanasias in 36hrs :-( my emotions can't handle this.

  • I usually double up my first period day, but my scrub pants are so thin and see through you could tell I had a pad on, so I had tgo take it off and just wear a liner. Thankfully no breakthroughs occured. Though I did drop a pasta noodle on myself at lunch. Ugh.

Echo - Way to go to your son!! Yay potty training!

Aggie it sounds like a weekend at home is just what yo uneed!
