Bathroom storage ideas

I need serious help here! Our new house has no storage in the bathrooms except for the under the sink cabinets (no linen closets :( )
I knew this going in, so it's not a surprise, but I'm trying to decide what I can do to make that space more usable for a reasonable price. Bed bath and beyond has some stuff but they are expensive, any ideas/ alternatives?
Thanks!

P.s. Internet is supposed to be installed Friday, so I will be back more after that and may have to aw some pics:)

Re: Bathroom storage ideas

  • I really want to know others ideas as well! We have the same set up as you.

  • We have a tinie tiny master bath that just had under-sink storage when we moved in...there isn't even counter space.  we found a little 3-shelf cubby thing (think wal-mart/IKEA), we've got baskets (TJMaxx) on each shelf to hold the towels that's our make-shift linen closet. we also got some of those nicer floating shelves from HomeDepot, we've got one 24" shelf over the toilet (I keep some smaller hair clips, nail polishes, etc in a basket on that shelf and some candles), then we each got a couple little 6" shelfs to keep our more frequently used products on them.... H already went to bed and I have a 6:30am meeting tomorrow, but if I think of it I'll post some photos.

  • I don't know what I would do without the linen closet in our master bath!  When they made our house - we bought brand new - the closet had no shelves!  I told them to add shelves otherwise it'd be a waste.  Do you have an IKEA?  I'm thinking of getting a shelf set with a cabinet included so I can store some things in there next to the toilet, like extra toilet paper and kleenex.  When we remodel the bathroom I really want double sinks and backsplash!

  • Never thought of ikea. I'm not a fan of most of their furniture, but they do have great stiorage solutions sometimes. It's a ways away, but may be worth a look.

imageWe have something like this over the toilet in our master bathroom but the doors are glass. We store containers with Qtips/c/balls, tissue ,t.brushes/t/paste/cup, and washcloths in here.

imageWe have a medicine cabinet like this on the wall with glass doors as well for some meds, bandaids, etc.

We are lucky though, we have a big linen closet right outside the bathroom though but we like certain items inside the bathroom itself.

In our main bathroom off the kitchen, we have something like this as we only have under the sink to store stuff (cleaning products), so we use this for TP/Kleenex/lady products

Bummer, the pics won't show, but you can see most of the items on this webpage at Home depot if this works. If not, just go to home depot and search "bathroom storage"

  • All of our bathroom storage came from Ikea. Have you tried looking for ideas on Pinterest?  I know I've seen a few different ideas there, like using a wine rack to hold rolled up towels.
  • The other thing I've thought of is a shelf with a few baskets over the door...a little strange, but it's wasted space otherwise.

  • You could always do any of these types of pieces for some extra storage.  Especially over the toilet.

We bought shelves similar to this to put inside the cabinets under the sink so there were 2 tiers of shelving inside.

The rest is mostly baskets, and I put things we don't use often in the hallway closet.

We are getting one here on Sept 10th :)  We plan on going opening day.  I never thought we would get one in our city.  That's what I'm going to look for that day along with something to keep in the garage to place our shoes in.  we have other things from IKEA that we had to travel for and have been very pleased with them.  No they probably won't last 20 years, but you will probably be re-decorating at that time.
