Re: FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

  • I am so excited for mh to go away next week. I can't wait to have the house, the dog and the kid to myself for 4 whole days. Its just what I need before going back to work.

Same here. Sort of. DH is going to Vermont for a week in October for a kayaking trip. It will be awesome to have DS all to myself, but our dog (who I do actually love) is going to drive me bonkers. He just listens to DH so much better than me. He knows I am weak. But, hey, I recently got hooked on The Vampire Diaries courtesy of Netflix and will be watching a shit ton of it, without anyone complaining about how unrealistic it is.

Is Season 4 on Amazon or Netflix? I haven't even thought to check!

  • Tritto, on the husband out of town thing. My sister and aunt are coming into town so it should be kind of fun but also chaos with the kids and dog by myself.

I totally stopped on a yellow (turning red) left-turn arrow because the lady in back of me honked when I couldn't drive through the paint and on-coming lane to go up 300 feet to the start of the turn lane. She waved and was pissed. I never do stuff like this but it was fun to annoy her today because I knew she was already irritated.

  • Some crazy lady nearly hit me last week right in front of my apartment
I nearly got into a fistfight last Friday.
    We need more details.
Some crazy lady nearly hit me last week right in front of my apartment.  She started mouthing off and then honked at me.  So I honked right back, flipped her off for good measure and started into the complex.  Insanity hit her and she followed me into the complex.  I saw the nutjob start to follow me and turned around to head out to the police station because the people in this part of town are inbred and crazy.  She was yelling at me all the time and I nearly pulled over to punch her in the face.  Eventually, I lost her but I think she lives in my complex.

The next day, my low tire pressure light came on in my car and more than half the pressure was gone in one of my tires.  The bitch flattened my tire.  I'd had my niece and nephew in the car earlier that day.  If I see her again, there might be a real fight.

Be careful @RevJen, especially if you think she lives nearby.

I check out my car every morning when I get into it.  And we're looking at a new apartment tomorrow night.  If we like it, we're going to apply to live there.  The problem with my current complex is that they'll let anyone in.  They used to run credit checks on people.  Now, not so much.  Last winter, someone had sex ON MY CAR.  I don't even have sex on my car.  I found a used condom next to the tire.  The people who live there are disgusting and I'm done.

I punched one of my ex BFs in the face.  That is the only physical "fight" I think I have ever been in.

I agree @RevJen.  She sounds crazy!

  • @RevJen I feel your pain! Our last apartment was really nice when we moved in. It was very family friendly and they ran both credit and background checks on potential tenants. But for the last six months of our lease they were owned by a new company who let anyone move in and it was awful. There were people who would swim and act out at night when people were trying to sleep. The police were called on the same couple for fighting more times than I can count. And someone literally PEED next to our car in broad daylight at 7 am! We saw them do it, reported it to the police and landlord, and nothing happened. Thankfully this was near the end of our lease, but it was the last straw for us.

One of our neighbors did that on the building within the last 6 months.  I saw him nearly kick another neighbor's cat.  The cat was faster than his drunk ass foot, thank goodness.

NO. Kicking an animal would send me over the edge.

My husband rolls his eyes when I watch The Vampire Diaries but Damon Salvatore overrides any shame I might have for watching it haha

Oof.  Definitely time to move.  What a pack of crazy you have to deal with over there!

My confession is that I've just finished my first full week of teaching (last Thursday didn't count since we basically just went over the syllabus), and I feel like a total fraud.  No matter how much I prepare I feel like all the information just comes out as word vomit and that I'm not making a lick of sense.  The only thing keeping me from running from the room crying is that occasionally I see kids nod in agreement or take notes or ask good questions.  I feel like Leonardo DiCaprio in Catch Me If You Can except he had much more confidence in himself than I do.  I feel like I sneaked into being a professor. I have SO much respect for professors, and I don't deserve to be in their company. They're going to figure it out and shun me.    :( :-S :-<   :((

And that's without the drug/prostitution ring that was being run out of the apartment above mine several years ago.  :o)

Aww, I'm sure you're actually doing fine. But yes being a college professor is not an easy job :) I'm lucky this year, I have an amazing group of students in an 8am class, they make it so easy to get up in the morning.

Hang in there, it will get easier and if any of your colleagues ever think you're a fraud then they aren't worth you getting to know!

No, they've been nothing but lovely to me so far.  I'm just waiting for someone to realize I have no idea what I'm doing!

8am.  Oof.  I'm so grateful that my class is at 1:10.
