Re: Book Club Monday

  • 100 pages left of Book of life - Dedorah Harkness.

    1 hour left of my audiobook, but I'm just not into audiobooks right now.  IDK.  I need a new one I think. I should just finish this one and move on.  Born in Ice - Nora Roberts.  I think the next one will be Final Empire (mistborn #1).

  • My own book is taking up so much time I haven't had time to read any others.

    (Also, I'm trying to price it for amazon.  It will end up being around 80 pages.  For you kindle users, would you pay .99 or 2.99 for an 80 page book of short stories?  I've heard support for both, but wanted to get your input.  I lean towards .99, but so many people have told me 2.99 that I'm not sure.)

  • I'm reading Landline by Rainbow Rowell at work (while I pump). I'm reading How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff at home.

    I'm listening to Skeletons at the Feast by Chris Bohjalian.

    @ramstein1027 - I would lean toward $.99.

    I would pay $2.99 to read your book, but that is because I think your swell.

  • @ramstein1027 - I ditto Jill.  There's a collection of short stories for Four from divergent and I haven't bought it since it's more than a .99.  I'm cheap.  I've paid $2.99 for my cw's book because I know her, and i would you. But to get your name out there, I'd keep it cheap.  Can always do 2.99 with the next one when more people know you  ;)

  • Thanks, friends :)

    I agree wholeheartedly about the .99.  Some authors on the Kindle boards said not to sell myself short, but even if I was famous I think .99 for just 80 pages is appropriate.  I also think (hope) that the .99 price point leads to more impulse buys.
    O:-)

  • @ramstein1027, I agree with the others. I would pay $2.99 for your book, but as a general rule I wouldn't pay $2.99 for 80 pages.  You'll probably sell more and get your name out there faster at the lower price.

    Still being a book slacker.  Still working on A Discovery of Witches.  I really like it, so I don't understand why it's taking me so long to read it.  Probably because pregnant me is stupid lazy, holding a book/kindle while sitting is way too much work.

  • @ramstein1027 I echo everyone else's sentiments! Knowing you, I'd pay the $2.99, but if I didn't, it would be $.99 and even then only after I checked my library to make sure I couldn't get it free ;) I'm so cheap, I've only bought 3 or 4 books in the past 2 years for my Kindle, I usually just use the library!

    I'm still reading The Goldfinch. Enjoying it a lot, it's just long!

  • I will be offering for free at some point in October :)  I know that I would only pay .99 as well, but some authors have a weird thing about "underselling."  I am releasing a full novel in December that will be 2.99, and maybe some short stories along the way that will be permafree.
