Happy Friday! What are you reading?

How do you like it so far? Is it for any of the challenges or just fun?
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:

  • I just finished Landline yesterday.

I'm reading How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff. I'm finding it hard to get through.

I'm listening to Skeletons at the Feast by Chris Bohjalian. I love his writing and am enjoying it.

    I'm also listening to HP7 for a re-read.

These are 41, 42 and 43 for the year. My goal is 50.

  • Dad is Fat by Jim Gaffigan it is # 31 for the year. I like it and it is funny I just keep putting it down so I can finish the library books in time

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead. I just started it but I LOVED Vampire Academy series so I have high hopes for this one as well. #32.

    Both are for the SuBC

  • I am reading The Pillars of the Earth and probably will be for a few weeks still as I only read a little each day.  I am also reading The One and Only by Emily Giffin and Lover Unleashed. They are # 56 - 58 for the year.

  • I am struggling through "Painted Horses" by Malcom Brooks for my IRL bookclub but in all seriousness, I highly doubt I am going to finish it.  It is just soooo bad.

I am starting "Landline" by Rainbow Rowell today.  I just finished "Attachments" yesterday and I LOVED it.

I should also get back into my Calvin Coolidge bio that I have been ignoring for weeks now.

I also want to start "Drums of Autumn" but I want to finish Landline first because @MrsJenE, @myJunegirls and I are going to see Rainbow Rowell next Friday.

I have read 88 of 100 books for the year so far.

  • I've been plowing through my HP reread but the hold for #4 hasn't come in yet so I'm reading The Best Man by Kristan Higgins.  I have a long list of books out from the library but I need something happy and mindless.  It's actually pretty decent so far.

No idea what number I'm at right now.  I need to go update Goodreads.

I'm freaking out because you might have too much book hangover to fully appreciate Landline.

@MrsJenE should I wait a bit?  Maybe I should read Drums of Autumn first and then try to get Landline in before we go on Friday?

  • I'm reading the Clockwork Scarab, it is #112 for the year, it is pretty good so far. I just haven't had a ton of reading time lately, work is killing me but I switched to different hours yesterday so hopefully this will help.

I'm listening The Clockwork Universe, it is #113 and it is alright, it's dry.

Maybe.  Landline has a completely different feel to it.  I don't want you to go into it expecting it to be like Attachments.

  • I'm reading In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larsson.  I'm only about 60 pages into it, but so far, so good.  No challenges or goals.
  • I'm pages away from finishing my re-read of Dance Upon Air. I'll probably jump right into the next one.

I'm still listening to HP HBP. Almost finish that one too.

  • Listening to Game of Thrones by George RR Martin.  I've already watched the series, but the audiobook is great.

Reading Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunites for Women Worldwide by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.  I have a hard time making my way through non-fiction, but this is a very important book.

Reading Never Love a Highlander by Maya Banks.  This is fun, romantic fluff and that's just what I wanted.

Pretty diverse reading list right now!  LOL

  • Wise Man's Fear- I'm a little more than halfway through and loving it! I'm glad it's super long because I'm already sad the third book isn't out yet.

Thinking, Fast and Slow: This one is slow going for me but really interesting! I read Blink not too long ago and that deals with similar ideas so it's interesting to see how they are explained in both books.

This book is next on my list.

  • I'm reading Origins (Vampire Diaries series). It's going really slow for me and since I caught up on the show this summer, I think I already know what happens.
I'm also reading The BDB Insiders Guide. Another sort of boring read. I don't like that she honestly thinks these characters exist in her head and she has no control over the story.
I'm listening to Voyager. Loving the reread.

  • Listening to Silver Shadows at the moment.  I can't decide if I like the two narrators or not.  I think I just got used to the way she read the male voices.  He's not bad.  It's just different.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • The Alchemist.  It's only 100 pages so I thought it would be quick, but I'm bored to tears and it's taken me a week to get through half of it. I'm going to power through this weekend.

I'm 41% through a re-read of HP and the SS. It's just for fun while I study for the licensure exam I have coming up. It's #32 for the year.

  • I am reading Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. It is number 34 for the year. I just started it so I don't have an opinion yet, but I'm looking forward to getting into it this weekend.

I'm reading The Martian and loving it!  It is really hard to put down.
