Gender Reveal Party Etiquette

So my friend who is due 6 weeks ahead of me has planned her gender reveal party. We're planning to do a small one with family and possibly a handful of friends but expect and want no gifts and will make that known. We simply want to celebrate our LO and eat cake. :)

My question is - are gifts expected at a gender reveal? Maybe a BRU gift card? Something neutral?

Any suggestions?

Re: Gender Reveal Party Etiquette

  • I don't think they are expected and it is tacky if the couple were to expect it. Unless the gender reveal happens at a shower I wouldn't buy gift.

  • We had an immediate family only gender reveal. Some people brought gifts. Others didn't. It never even occurred to me that people would be bringing gifts. If you bring anything, I'd keep it small. We got "Good Night, Pittsburgh" a kid's book at our gender reveal. I would probably do something like that, if I did bring a gift.

  • @MRads‌ - A book is actually a great idea. I hadn't thought of that.
  • I don't think a gift is necessary at all. Just be there and be excited that's all they should expect.
