  • I'm just reading this:

  • I'm finishing up Landline, and reading The Infinite Sea. I'm a little disappointed because I don't love Landline, and I wanted to love everything RR wrote.

  • Landline was my favorite RR book!  I don't think I'd like it nearly as much if I wasn't a parent though.

Just finished What Alice Forgot.  Amazing.  Loved it so much.  Also read All Fall Down.  Meh.  Didn't love it.  Not sure what to start next.   Maybe Raven Boys with all the love it got earlier today!

  • Landline was 3 3/4 starts for me. I just couldn't get into the characters, I have no idea what was missing for me. It's one of those inexplicable times when a book just doesn't "click".

  • I'm almost done with Representations of Slavery: Race and Ideology in Southern Plantation Museums, by Jennifer L. Eichstedt and Stephen Small.  It's incredibly well written and thorough.  I have to teach it on Tuesday and then we're taking a field trip to one (Smithfield Plantation in Blacksburg, VA) on Thursday to see Trivialization and Deflection in action.

    That sounds absolutely fascinating!

  • I'm finally about 20% into Heir of Fire. It's not holding my attention like I want it too. I'm so sad because I hard core loved the first 2 books and devoured all of the prequel novellas. I have a feeling it will pick up eventually, but I want it to hurry up and happen.

I'm alternating between that and The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley so I'm moving slowly on both of them.

I'm also listening to the Veronica Mars book The Thousand Dollar Tan Line, which picks up a few months after the movie left off. Kristen Bell narrates, which makes it all the more fun. After the little info-dump recap part in the first 2 chapters, it feels just like watching an episode of the TV show. I highly recommend the audiobook for other VMars fans.

It's both fascinating and disheartening.  I can't say I'm surprised by the findings, though.  We as a society have GOT to get better about being inclusive in our historical narratives.

  • I'm around 71% through my reread of HP and the SS with DH. Even with two busy back to back days I'm still reading it faster than DH. Muahaha. Eat my book dust, DH.

I just bought What Alice Forgot at the bookstore Saturday! I'm so excited to read it. I'd never heard of it before but it sounds so good. I'm glad to hear someone read it and loved it!!!

  • I am hoping to finally finish Reality Bites Back tonight.  It's about the sexist and racist stereotypes that are seen in reality tv and it's super good, but taking me FOREVER.
