Re: THE Outlander Episode (sp)

  • I loved it and I didn't love it.

I loved it for what it was, but here are the things I didn't love:

    1.  The ring. When he gets her the ring at Leoch, it is the whole reason behind his argument with Claire about Laoghaire.  Why did they change that?

    2.  One of my favorite things in the book is when he yells out, "Jesus Christ!" Then Claire tells him, "Don't stop now."  I guess they'd have to explain that he never took the Lord's name in vain, which would then lead back to the story of his time at the abbey that has never been discussed.

    3.  When she asks why he wed her and he says that maybe he just wanted to bed her and then he alludes to a third reason why he married her, which she later finds out was because he loved her.  They left this out.  They are not alluding to the fact that he loved her AT ALL, so I'm guessing they're just not going that way in the story.

    4.  And did I miss something?  Did they not have that conversation at all about honesty?

  • At first I didn't love how awkward their first time was.  It was almost too much.  It did get better each time though.

I did NOT like Dougal's advances to her.  I know he was never really loyal to Jamie in the books, but I don't remember him being quite so forward and aggressive about it. I wasn't a fan of that change.   He never mentions Maura, but as we find out later, his wife really didn't matter much to him in the way of fidelity.

Is it wrong that I find him extremely attractive?  Not in the same way as Jamie, but still, I do.

    One of my favorite lines..

    "That bad, was it?"

WTF?!?!?!  I know it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it was a big deal to me when I read Voyager.

    AND...BUT....ALSO...

This better be in the next episode!

"Don't be afraid," he whispered into my hair. "There's the two of us now."

I've seen better boobs on the National Geographic channel.  Eesh.

And Jamie has a bonny arse.

  • @SnShne322 I seriously love Dougal.  He's an ass but he is hot and I love most of the scenes between him and Claire.  He's quickly becoming my favorite part of the show.

I loved Claire's dress and seeing Jamie in full wedding regalia.  However, dirty Jamie is way hotter than clean Jamie.  I also thought that the sex scenes were kind of awkward and at one point Claire sounded like she was totally faking it.

Also, why did they have Claire and Frank marrying at the Register's office?

  • I still loved it. I loved it even with all the omissions and changes. I'm really hoping they have the honesty conversation, just at some other point. I mean, that HAS to happen. I have no bloody idea when they could add it in, but I really hope that they do.

I feel like a creeper, but there is something about Dougal.Dougal is really a jerk is this episode, but man, he is a sexy jerk.

My Jamie love knows no bounds. I mean, c'mon.

  • I haven't read the first book in years so I don't remember a lot of the details but I like how the story is unfolding. This episode and the previous have been my favourite so far. I loved the way it unfolded and Claire's dress was amazing.

  • I don't like Claire's boobs at all and that dress made them look horrible.
I am reading the first book now because I am intrigued.  I should finish it before surgery.

  • My sister and I were talking about how we really hope that they revisit some of the conversations that were omitted. Other than that and Claire's boobs bulging out of her dress, I really liked it.  I plan to watch it again, maybe several more times, later this week ;)

I am already bummed that we'll have to wait after next week.  I don't want to wait any longer!!

I (respectfully) disagree.  I thought last week's episode was a waste of time when they've got 800 pages to cover.

We can disagree. I still like you.

In the book, yes.  In the episode, no.  That whole luncheon she had with the British was a waste of a half hour.

I DO like how the story of Jamie's flogging came from Randall.  I thought that was well done and got the point across.

  • I did like this episode. Things bothered me (the ring, Dougal being an ass, the fact that it wasn't where she and Frank got married, the fact that they gave me a fucking heart attack by doing everything out of order... AGAIN.) but overall I thought it was well done. I wanted to bite Jamie's ass. I really hated the first 35-40 minutes of the last episode, and the whole episode before that. So much time wasting! Why are they ADDING shit? Next week will be halfway through the season - but only 300 pages through an 850 page book. A notoriously slow-starting 850 page book. Seriously? I never in a million years thought my biggest complaint would be that they dragged it out too long.

  • I was watching this episode with a lovely older couple who are kind enough to let me watch the show at their house even though they don't really like it because I don't have fancy cable.  They are actually pretty religious, too.  And conservative.  They are too polite to make me watch alone at their house so this week was....

    AWKWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I were watching alone (or with my husband) I would have enjoyed three graphic sex scenes a lot more!!  (I got to listen to commentary from the older gentleman such as "Oh wow. They're at it again!")  I mean, they didn't leave anything to the imagination, did they?  I'm already planning to get this on DVD later and watch again in the privacy of my own home!

Jamie, yeah, he's attractive, I guess. :x  And I really like his acting.  He's pretty much perfect.

Claire's boobs in that dress made me sad.
