Library whine

My library doesn't purchase many YA ebooks and if they do they are typically the dystopian genre.  I requested Isla and the Boy Next Door and after checking frequently (they are supposed to notify me if they fulfill a request but they don't grr) and  they now show they have it YAY! Except they said it would become available when it was released on the 15th.... then the 21st and now it says the 30th.  What the heck? I am so confused the book is out! WHY is it not available?

I am trying to be a good girl and use my library but they are sure making this hard.

Re: Library whine

  • My library is the same way. Most of the new YA books they get are all in the dystopian category. I requested Isla, and so far have not heard that it's in yet, and the chances of them getting it are pretty slim. And this is the entire county library system, as I can borrow books from any library in my county not just the one in my town.

Obviously this is just a sign that you (and I) need to buy the book! haha! ;)

This exact same thing is happening to me with Isla! First it showed as available, then I was #1 on hold, and now every week for the past month it keeps pushing back the release date. WTF?!

Its not a huge deal (YET!) because I am still on hold for Lola and the person who has it has somehow had it for 50 million weeks now.... But I will be unhappy when I finally do finish Lola if Isla still isn't available yet.

  • Mine is the same. Very few YA or New Adult e-books. I might talk to the librarian about it next time I am in there. Maybe she will have some insight.

  • It makes me feel better that it isn't just my library although it's still not helping my temptation to just purchase it.

  • The first time I read your subject line I thought it said  Library WINE. Now, that's something I could get behind.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

  • Sometimes at my library we order a book thinking we'll get it on or near the release date and wind up with it back-ordered.  We thought for sure we'd get Landline as soon as it was released, but Baker and Taylor (where we get our books) had so many orders they couldn't fulfill them all in time.  We wound up just getting our copy last week, even thought we had it pre-ordered.

  • And it just became available for me, after telling me all week it wouldn't be available until the 30th.

Of course I am still waiting for Lola. Seriously, this person is taking so long with that book :( I feel like I have been waiting FOREVER

  • My library is pretty good at ordering YA books. We have a pretty big selection. They don't usually become available right away though. I have a special shelf on my goodreads with all my future release books. About once a month, I go on and then check the library for all the books that are a few months out. The more popular ones will already be on older and I can get on the list first. I finished Isla last week(MY HEART).

My complaint is about YA audiobooks. I am not sure if it's audiobooks in general or my library but there are so many books I want to get on audio and they just aren't available. There is no way I can read all the books I want to so I try to get as many on audio as possible.

  • I am patiently waiting for my turn with Isla.  It was made available on 9/23 for ebooks and I put my name on the list for the book.
