Thursday Randoms

My response to Rev's link in the Banned Book post made me think of this.  Back in 2000-2001 there was this program that your friend would send you after you downloaded it, it would fake you out like you downloaded it incorrectly, and then BAM the screen went black and this horrifying face would pop up on your screen.  After you changed your pants you'd settle back in and go to say haha to your friend on AIM and then it would do it again!  The only way you could get it to stop was to shut down your computer.  The effing thing terrified me.  It had this horrible noise that went along with it to.

Does anyone else remember this? I remember it happening in my college dorm room and it made the rounds really fast.

Re: Thursday Randoms

  • Lately I have been feeling almost overwhelmed with the books that I really want to read. There are so many good books on my list, that I almost cannot decide what I would like to read. Does anyone else ever feel overwhelmed with this or I am just odd in that sense?
  • The SWAT team is set up right down the road from my office.  Lovely.  I am just waiting for the shots to break out..

This is why I don't leave the building for lunch.

I've been feeling this lately too. I really want to reread The Raven Boys series. A friend wants me to read The Left Behind series, but I am only on the first book and it makes me sleepy. A coworker lent me The Invention of Wings. Not to mention the books I have on hold at the library. Bah! So many books, so little time!

  • I was supposed to get a new laptop at work late yesterday or early today. I was SO EXCITED to come into work this morning and get it all set-up.... and it's not here.  So I'm pouting.

    @kelshaws1311

I feel the same way. I want to read so many books/series and I'm too busy to read anything that I can get absorbed in. I have easily a dozen or more that I want to read RIGHT NOW.That's just too many choices and I am working so much lately and have the licensure exam in six weeks. I'm just re-reading HP until my schedule clears up a bit.

I've been looking at all the really expensive houses in our area on the realtor websites. It is crazy to me that just a few miles from me is this gorgeous mansion. I love when they post a ton of pictures so I can see what they look like inside. It makes me feel creepy since I'll never ever be buying a home like these but a girl can dream.

There's one in particular that has a huge, beautiful library...with near empty shelves. It looks decorated, not used. The rest of the house seems to be pretty well lived in. This makes me bummed because I want to see what it would look like with overflowing shelves. Maybe they'll let me rent that part of the house lol.

  • I'm tired and overwhelmed with stupid stuff and I'm sitting here trying not to cry because I just need a break.

Tomorrow is my birthday and I'm not even excited at all. This is the first birthday I really feel OLD and it's bumming me out.

  • @SnShne322 I remember something on the desktop when I was in high school that I clicked on and then the screen looked like everything on the computer was being deleted.  Freaked me out.  And I remember that I did it again a few times, having forgotten the previous times, and freaked out again!

    As for my random...
I hit my goal for reading for the year, so I think other than reading kindle books while trying to fall asleep, I'm going to take a reading break.  I hate that, but this time of year gets a little hectic.

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
    "I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”

I'm sorry you're feeling sad. I don't "know" you very well, so I am not sure if this will work, but this always makes me laugh.

    and this...
    HAHAH I just died
    and this too...
omg why is this so funny?!

Did any of these work for ya? I have an odd sense of humor, so it is highly possible that they didn't. A for effort, right?
